Launching M6 550HP+ with drag radials
I ran a 12.0 with my worn out p-zeros in the heat and of course I did not have any traction so I have ordered a set of 1000hp axles and two 18" C6 Z06 with the 40mm offset front wheels. I still need to decide if I am going with 305s or 275s Nitto NT05 drag radials. Does anyone have these tires? If so are you running 275s or 305s? Also has anyone got a similar setup that can give me some tips on how to launch an M6 with 550hp+ with drag radials to get the best 60 foot times? I am thinking a smooth launch around 2800 RPM for my first shot. Below is my dyno chart if you want to get real technical.

go with the 305, since you are a stick. With the additional drivetrain shock you are going to have at the initial hit, you will need the extra section width. If you were an automatic, I'd say 275

If you went with aftermarket Z06 wheels in 10.5 you can use the 315's but the OE Z06 wheels I think are a little narrower. ![]() At the end of June the NT05's I put on the Camaro were getting really worn so I went shopping for some new ones. I called every place I could and they were all on back order. One shop called Nitto and they said they were going into production in a couple of weeks. I finally found a place that had a couple sets so I bought them all. I slapped a pair on some widened stock wheels and am down to 2 sets. They really wear fast if you drive them on the street.

What ever I end up with the for the 18" wheels I plan on just changing them at the track so this won't be an issue since I do not plan to race the car often.

Need more input
I went back and checked again Nitto does make a NT05R P305/45R18 this is the tire I was looking at before. It is 28.90 inched in diameter compared to the stock diameter of 28.7 inches. I could go with the Nitto NT05R 285/40R18 it is 27.09 inches in diameter but from what my builders tell me it is better to have the taller side wall than the increase ratio of the smaller diameter tire. Keep in mind I am trying to deal with 60 foot times with the new wheels and tires, the best I got out of the stock worn out tires was a 12.078 with a 2.105 60' time at 121.5 mph. If I can get this thing to hook up I should be able to get into the mid to low 11s.

with your mph, once you hook, you will be in the low 11's for sure....with good weather, it may sneak into the 10's.....

An update on the tires. On Monday I am ordering the Nitto NTO5R P305/45R18s for the drag strip. For daily driving I am going with the Nitto 555R 275/40R20s. I am still hoping to hear from someone that has a similar setup that can give me some experienced ideas on how to launch the M6 with 550hp+ with the NTO5 18" drag radials to get the best 60 foot times? I am heading to the strip in a few weeks, below is the time slip I will be trying to improve on.

hey madmax, i can give you a little bit of an idea what to expect . I took my car to clay city last night, First off I haven't been to a track and this is my first time racing the car of any sort. My car is an ls3 m6, D1Sc procharger at 7.5 lbs of boost, kooks long tubes, no cats, gmmp exhaust, bluecat tune, It dynoed 544 hp and 503 hp tq. I used c5 zo6 rears with 305/45/18 m/t drag radials. I mounted the tires and drove straight to the trck without any break in of the tires or even a practice launch. I made 6 passes with my best of 11.95 118.55 mph, 1.96 60'. I had a really hard time hooking because the tires were so new , I went quicker with a better 60 on each pass as the were braking in. This thing is a beast to launch with the power and the IRS. Between it being my first trip to the track in 2 years and the new car, new tires and all my buddies watching I did ok.The tires really needed a proper break in on the street before I went, I would highly advise doing so. I just didn't have time. I am going to leave them on my car a few days and properly break them in.LOL.
