Whipple Install Questions

I'm getting ready to purchase but I have a few install questions, I'm hoping someone can answer, these involve pinning the crank.

Q1:
Install both .251 dowels into the holes. NOTE: Make sure that when the dowel is installed it is LOWER than the HARMONIC BALANCER. The dowel should NOT touch the harmonic balancer when INSTALLED.

I'm not sure what they mean by this, do I push the dowels all the way through? Aren't they there to hold the crank pulley in place? Will this be more obvious to me when I install?

Q2:
Installed ARP bolt. Torque to 240 foot pounds. NOTE: On the 6 speed car apply parking brake, shift car into 1st gear and have a assistant apply the brakes to torque the bolt. On the automatic trans car unbolt the starter and install GM KENT MOORE J45059 tool to torque bolt.

I have no idea what this means or what this tool is, is this something I can rent, will it be self explanatory? This seems optional to installing the OEM bolt if so is there a benefit to using the ARP bolt?

Q1: Just push the dowel pins all the way in until they bottom out..... make sure you have the drill on low speed and stop and oil the bit often...

Q2: If you have an auto, you need a way to stop the flex plate from turning... No you can not rent the "J" tool... On Lightnings we would make up our own tool using flat steel with some slight bends, that would bolt up to converter using one of the exiting bolts and the other end to the bell housing, using an exiting bolt. BTW, if you have a 6 speed car, it works better if you put the car in 4th gear. When I had the car in 1st gear, the brakes couldn't hold the tires from turning, but 4th gear would.....

Thanks, If I use the OEM blot can I avoid using the J tool? The instructions made it sound like this was optional.

Got some answers from Whipple, the tool # was wrong it's J42386-A a flywheel holding tool like rtkjadams referenced. That makes much more sense, and it's only $80.

You stated in your first post that the instructions call for 240 foot lbs. That is a lot more than what you claim your cordless gun to be (1240 inch lbs). I'm confused.
