Injen CAI CEL

I just had my CEL turn on after about a week of having my Injen CAI installed. It came on right after I floored the pedal. I checked all the hoses and they all seem to be connected tightly. Any ideas?

Stop at your local chain auto parts store like Autozone and have them check the code... let us know what the code is..

Yep.. evap leak... double check your gas cap..

If you don't want to disconnect the battery you can just drive the car and the CEL should clear after a couple of drive cycles..

I was getting a gas cap error message for the past two days saying "tighten gas cap" . Hopefully that's the only problem.

If it doesn't clear try cleaning the rubber gasket on the gas cap...

If that doesn't work take it to the dealership... are you still under your 36,000 mile bumper to bumper warranty? Also this is emissions related and i believe that fall under a different warranty..

U think the dealer will try to blame the error code on the CAI?

Probably depends on your relationship with the dealer. Some may be fast to automatically blame an after-market mod in many cases. Hopefully it's just your gas cap; please let us know!

On a side note, can you comment on your experience with the Injen CAI ?

As badinblack pointed out there are some idiot dealerships that will try and blame EVERYTHING on your aftermarket parts! I've seen dealerships blame a front end clunk (bad strut) on aftermarket mufflers! LOL! If you dealership does try and blame your Injen, it's time to find a new dealership!!!

But... if you've got a even have way decent dealership it should be a problem..

I just unplugged the battery and it reset the CEL. I drove around for 15 minutes without any warning or CEL coming on. I might still take it in though; this stuff isnt supposed to be happening to a car I bought just 3 weeks ago.

Thanks for everyones help! you guys truly are the best.

Someone asked me to rate the Injen CAI: I love it. It has this crazy growl when you floor it that wasnt there before. Ive had no issues with the air filter being so low (and I live in Miami, where it tends to rain alot).

So, I have to ask. Did you try seeing if the gas cap wasn't tight? I mean, I know how I'd feel if it just wasn't clicked tight and the car said it wasn't tight. If it was, I'd wait to see if you get another code, check the seal, and then let the dealer go from there.
And FYI, you can hit ONSTAR and have them do a diagnostic the next time.
