Something triggered the limp mode to save the part....is your tranny an auto? Ge it scanned and serviced ASAP. Limp mode saves major parts!

This has happened on my 09 tahoe hybrid..had error on DIC, top speed was like 30mph. shut off for 1/2 hour and ran fine but the engine light was on...then engine light went off after about 3-4 hours..dealer said it was a build up of carbon and cleaned???....two weeks later same problem but it fixed itself....

I think he means the computer detected bad parameters and interpreted it to mean their could be major mechanical failure. So it cut power in a move to avoid failure of part.

Limp home mode is designed to allow you to travel home or to a dealership under 'reduced' power. It usually saves a component.

I'd suggest that anyone who gets this (or any other message or check engine light) to simply hit your OnStar button and ask for "vehicle diagnostics' - in most cases they can pinpoint what the problem is.

im with him ^

It could just be the car not liking your mods and going into limp or safe mode to protect itself, which could be fixed with a simple tune... or... you might have some major issues

Limp Mode

My car came up with the same message and limped home, backfiring the whole way. Found out the next day that one of the spark plug wires came loose and triggered the limp mode to save any major damage to the engine.
