powder coated wheels in San Diego

So here’s the story…I’ve been wanting to have my stock ss/rs wheels powder coated, but didn’t want to deal with the downtime.
I was having some tires put on the company car at Preston’s in La Mesa (I know the guys there) and I asked if they had access to a powder coater. Wayne said, not only that, but we have a set of ss wheels and tires in the back that a customer left when he purchased a new set of wheels and tires. Make a long story short, he popped the set on my car for three days while my set got powder coated.
Cost is between $525 and $550 if you are interested (choose your color)…ask for Wayne (not sure how much longer the set of wheels and tires will be there….I’ve offered to buy them from the owner)
Mine are matte black…came out great. These guys are perfectionists, even painted the wheel weights black and ordered me a black set of lug nuts
Wayne at Preston tire….619-460-8311
I’d post a picture, but my camera crapped out, I’m not sure if I’d know how to post them anyway…and i'm sure you guys know what powder coated wheels look like

So do they still have the ones they popped on your car sitting around? Cuz I'd probably take those off their hands....

They were going to contact the owner and get back to me about an offer I made on them. In the mean time, they are sitting in their shop waiting to be used if someone else wants their wheels powder coated.
If the owner does in fact want to sell them, I'll pm you and you can have first choice....I'm happy with my new wheels Just didn't want the other set sitting around collecting dust in their shop.

Excellent!! Glad to have helped. My concern was no down time, so this was the only reason I jumped on the opportunity to have my wheels done. I like your idea of the red stripe...those are going to look sharp. Enjoy!
I'll see if I can borrow a camera...the odds are you will have your new wheels by the time I'm able to get that together

The hassel of taking the tires/wheels off the car then to a shop to remove the tires, then powder coat and reverse the whole thing to complete was a nightmare. Your lead saves me a huge pain.
They should be done by the 10th and I'm going to try and wait until the following Sat to go back down for them. The wait once they're done will be very hard so I may go right after they tell me they're done (I have zero paitence)...
I'll get my kid to help me get pics over here to ya too....
Thanks again!

If anyone is interested I have a set of 20's ss/rs no tires or sensors 6000 miles. I'm looking to unload at the right price. Just bought a beautiful set of Axis zero's had them powder coated matte black with a yellow pinstripe. Real happy with Axis! here's a pic of the new wheels.

Habu, looking good. I'm still deciding if I want to pin strip my wheels to match my paint (Victory Red) when mine are powder coated next week.
Yours came out great!!

Well thank you. I'm real happy with the pinstripe. Was worried after I ordered that it might be too much, it wasn't. I think it really helps break up all the black. and goodluck with yours, hope your just as happy! post pics

Like I said, my camera is broken....but so as not to upset anyone who is not sure what black wheels look like, here are some pictures taken from my cell phone (which must be 10 years old, so sorry for the quality)....guess crappy pictures are better than none at all. Although if you find a picture of a camaro, take a black crayon and....well you get the idea...

Glad it is all working out for you...I stopped by and talked to Wayne this afternoon about your project and he mentioned the bowties being victory red. That will look sharp!! Can't wait to see some "clear, good looking" pictures of our wheels on this thread. Guess I could have forgone the powder coating and bought a camera instead....or as the students used to say when they came into my office...."Not!"
