GoPro HD Motorsports Camera

I was just curious if anyone has a GoPro camera that they use with their Camaro, I'm looking to see if it is worth the money. I have been in the market for one for a while, but never took the plunge.

Any feedback would be greatly appreciated! Thanks

There are definitely people around here using them because we sold them to them. The GoPro is a nice set up and shoots good video. At SEMA they showed us the new GoPro 3D setup thats coming out. It was pretty cool.

Cool camera, simple to use.
I mount mine on the inside of the passenger window when @ the track.

Also used it on my '05 Mustang GT

Yup, got one. Have some vid's on YouTube also. Mosly from helmet mount or fairing mount on my bike. I have one from on top of the sunroof of the Camaro a couple weeks ago, while riding on Talimena Scenic Byways. I just havent uploaded it yet. Will uploaded tomorrow.

You have to raise the quality to HD in the bottom right corner.

Not mounted on a Camaro but on a helmet...

First one is from a GoPro Hero Wide angle

This one is from a VIO cam

You can see a few other videos on my youtube channel; bar191

The difference between the two is GoPro, unless they changed it, run on batteries. VIO has an attachment and you can run it straight on vehicle power/battery. Having done bikes rides of 8000KMS, i can tell you that spending 200$ on batteries kinda suck.

Not only that but you ride somewhere and the batteries dies at the worst time!

If you were to mount it inside a car, you would be surprised with the quality of the sound. GoPro cams come with a plastic waterproof case. That case basically snap onto various mounting options. Even though it is in a case the sounds is actually decent.

VIO cam on the other hand has a mounted MIC into the wiring but also has a MIC jack onto the recording unit.

That being said VIO cam are quite more expensive than the GoPro and frankly i think GoPro quality is much better. That being said VIO now just has launched their HD cam, should be available for Xmas last i read from the email they sent me.

If you want a decently priced cam, GoPro is the way to go.

If you google point of view cam, you should find a lot of online stores selling them.

SOUND:

First two posted vids are with the NON waterproof rear door, third is with the WaterProof Door. You can hear the diff. To do real quality edits and productions, you are going to need a quality editing program like Adobe Premiere (or Elements, cheaper) Most of the wind noise and mic overloads can be edited out.

With the waterproof door on the back, sound is very muffled and difficult to edit and use. So people usually just dub music over the vid.

I have a few people on the motorcycle forum trying to sell theirs' if you are interested.
