Camaro 6 vs BMW 6
I was reading up on some of BMW's latest offerings, and I noticed that their 3.0 liter, DI, turbocharged 6 cylinder only puts out 300 HP as compared to the Camaro's 3.8 liter, DI non-turbo 6 cylinder's 312 HP. Yeah, 0.8 of a liter is a lot, but still, it's NA compared to the turbo on the Bimmer. Gotta give some street cred to Chevy. I think the nod goes to the Camaro V6!

A 60 degree V6 and an inline 6 are completely different animals. Plus the 3 series is much lighter (by around 300 pounds). Of course, it also starts at $43K. And a 3 series beamer is also like a yuppie uniform. Seems like every 30 something who goes to work with a tie on drives a 3-series or a G37 sedan.

not to mention the BMW's 3.0 twin turbo inline 6 are EXTREMELY mod friendly. My cousin's chipped 135i beat me in the 1/4 mile.....forget about keeping up with it in the V6 camaro.

Look at the test results. The BMW is only 300 lbs lighter than the v6 Camaro, and supposedly has about the same hp. Hmmm. Camaro's 3.8 motor was good in its day, junk in the current market. I believe it only put out around 200hp at the crank.
Camaro now has a 3.6, direct injected motor, making 312 crank hp while still putting down 29 mpg highway. Just a little update

My bmw m3 with a 3.2 liter naturaly aspirated put out 333 hp, and they made a CSL version that put out 360 hp.I would say Chevy is behind in that category. BMW is just turning to turbos for fuel efficeincy. A 135i and a 335i would take a v6 Camaro. A 535i and a 635i with the same engine the Camaro would win.

crank hp is good, but what you really want to know is what it's puttin' down at the rear wheels!..(brake h.p!)..the "general" is NOT talkin'!..seen nothin' in print either!..somebody knows!..maybe just the engineers!..312 at the "flywheel" is definitely a ''strong" 6 though!...."just sayin!"

The 3L with twins is underrated, but the new twin scroll turbo isnt as strong.
