I was looking around under the car today and noticed that the front drivers side o2 sensor was loose (I have Stainless Works catted long tubes). I tightened it back up and all seems fine.
What sort of things would having a loose o2 sensor do to the car? Would it cause it to run more rich/lean or anything like that? Would I have seen a code if it was leaking enough air to really cause a problem (I do have a tune as well)? It was loose enough that I could easily spin it with my fingers but it still had enough threads in that it wasn't about to fall out either.

Funny you bring this up. I don't know the answers but I did just get an engine light. I have Stainless works long tube headers and a tune also. Yesterday I threw some codes for running lean. I'm going to check the car out today and see if anything is loose on it.

IT would make it run slightly richer, due to air leaking in creating a (simulated) lean condition, the car would add fuel.

When I had my LT's installed the threads on my drivers side sensor were bad right from the factory. It was a PITA to get it to screw back in again. It's not the tightest seal and I swear I'm leaking air through that sensor. I have an SCT tune and had the codes removed but it did throw code P2272 which was 02 sensor signal stuck lean . Then I read page 68 of Camaro Now magazine which on #5 confirms how bad the threads are on the sensors.

I went thru the same thing on my 2001 Camaro. I had one O2 with bad threads.
I replaced it myself and put the same stuff as I put on my spark plugs, Anti-seize compound. ![]() ![]() Bill |

I'll have to take a closer look at that now. Anybody have a price and part number for that o2 sensor?
I did sort of think I was running a bit rich, but I wasn't sure if it was the tune or the long tube headers and high flow cats or some combination of the two.

I've got two extras laying around if you want one, maybe 1000 miles on them. I dont think the rears are any different physically then the fronts.
