Black or Red Jewel? - Part 2

Thanks for all the opinions in my thread about getting black or red jewel. Pretty much confirms my original feeling that the Red Jewel would be easier to keep clean. My black GTO gets dirty just sitting in the garage- no joke. Now for part 2...

The Red Jewel Camaro that I'm considering is a 2010, 2LT/RS, black interior, polished 20" wheels, and PAINTED on silver stripes (done by the dealer body shop). The car is really beautiful in the photos on the dealer website.

The Black Camaro that I also considered is a 2011, 2LT/RS, beige interior, midnight silver wheels, no stripes. Being a 2011, it also has the HUD, which the 2010 doesn't.

Price on both is pretty close, with the 2010 being a little more because of the polished wheels and painted stripes.

Here's my question- Is having the HUD worth taking the black one over the Red Jewel, which I like better as far as color and the polished wheels. There are literally no other 2LT/RSs to choose from in my vicinity. And no, the SS is out of my price range. Thanks for any input from those who have the HUD on a 2011.

Go with your color preference. I had a 2010 for little over a year, long story with lemon law etc etc I now have a 2011.

I only use HUD at night and even then it's rare.

Black is the BEST, however it is high maintanance. Rjt is ok but is not evil, sinister Black; not to say you're evil or sinister. Take the time to enjoy and be with the car, buy BLACK.

I've got the HUD on my 2011. It's cool for showing off, long trips and when you want to monitor something else but really, you have a digital speedo in the DIC and an analog gauge. The HUD isn't something I would base my decision on.

I feel just the opposite...I didn't order my '11 because of the HUD, but just because it took so long for prices to come down that I didn't see any reason to buy the '10, although, the accessories incentive that they have on the '10 is a good reason. However, after about 200 miles with the HUD, I'm not sure I'd want to do without it. I have yet to have time to check the console gauges to see if they even work!!...LOL. I'd still buy the RJT, though...maybe if the prices are close to the same, you could order a new one and pass on the accessories?!?!?!?!?!

I think the 2 most pressing questions to ask is how bad do you want HUD. I personally think it's not worth giving up a car you'd prefer for it as in reality it just displays the same information that you get from your instrument cluster and DIC. Then there's the color choice. You know what having a Black car is like, remember the Black on the Camaro is gloss not metallic or pearl as it is on a GTO thus it will probably show imperfections and dirt a bit more than the GTO, and Black is never going to be a color that pops. Red Jewel is a very nice color that does looks great in direct sunlight, but if it doesn't have the options you want then you may be better off with Black, also the Black car would allow you to choose whatever stripes you want not what the dealer had painted on the car.

My Input is go RJT... I have it... I love it... I get lots of comments on in...
I really like it because it looks very different on a sunny day than it does on a cloudy day.

If looking clean is your concern... consider Silver Ice!!!
That was my second choice.
