Question Rear Deck Black Out Panel bow tie cutout?

Hey everyone i just received my rear deck blackout panel in the mail yesterday but it dont have the cutout for the bow tie and i want to keep it. I called the place where i ordered it from and they said that they dont make it with the bow tie cutout. Does anyone make it? or do i have to cut it my self. Im afraid of messing it up!

you can remove your bowtie then re-install it after puttin the vinyl that's what i did because i would mess it up if i cut it. If not you can order from one of the vendors in the forums such as ridergraphix or bigworm with a cut for the bowtie.

talk to bryan from mnp customs:

he did mine (that's actually my car on the site, the ABM one). i've now got matte black, not glossy as it shows in the pics. he sells it with the cutout already, or without it. i have mine with it, but i'm gonna get one without because i plan on putting SS's back there instead of the bowtie.

Why do you need to cut out the bowtie? Just remove the bowtie, install vinyl and put the bowtie back on...

for some, their bowties have guide posts. if you remove it, you will have holes in the rear decklid. also, you'll need to buy a new bowtie because the 3m tape that is keeping it on there will be no good. could always buy more 3m tape i suppose, try to put it on yourself, but might be a pain. haven't pulled mine off so i wouldn't know. at any rate, it's easier to have the cutout so they don't have to remove the bowtie and try and put it back on (getting it lined up correctly and not crooked etc).

I have my trunk panel blacked out and the holes are still there and it looks fine. If you don't want the bowtie pegs to poke the vinyl, cut the bowtie pegs off with a dremel and get fresh 3M trim tape. I used a 5th gen SS emblem in place of the bowtie and just stuck it back on. The size of the emblem covers the holes which will show even with vinyl covering them.

To remove the bowtie, just heat it up with a hair dryer on high heat for five minutes then run some dental floss or fishing line behind the emblem. Use a sawing motion while pulling the emblem out towards you GENTLY. Should come right off.
