******** - Capacitor - Install Help!

Ok so I am doing my first ever car audio install by myself and I need a little help. I ordered the large driver side enclosure from steve@ ******** as well as the amp rack and wiring harness and am about halfway through my install but I ran into 2 roadblocks.

1. Where do I install my capacitor?
I have a 1 farad rockford fosgate cap and can't figure out where to put it. I have the spare tire so that area is not an option. There is NO room on the amp mount board as I am running a huge Orion amp that is already coming off the end of the rack. So where do I put the cap? Any ideas guys?
Also. How do I wire it? Online instructions reference an input and output (batter to positive and negative input, and amp to positive and negative output) but all I see is a positive and negative terminal at the top. It isn't labeled input or output. Do I wire both input and output positives to the positive terminal and same for the negatives? Does the order I stack them matter?

2. How do I wire to the battery?
Does anyone have good pictures of this? I checked out the battery, removed the main plastic cover, but still can't exactly figure out how to wire to it. I am afraid of blowing something or electricuting myself. Some detailed instructions and pics would be most appreciated.

Thanks in advance to all who will post here and help this noob complete his first install.

First thing is you dont need the cap. Lose it.
If you are running a single side driver side enclosure you arent going to have enough to be needing a cap and if you did you would more than likely want to look at the big three before doing a cap anyway.

To wire the amp the battery, do a search there are plenty of pics out there showing this. I think if you look in my garage you will see what I did. I forget and I too lazy to look right now.

Anyway, your amp wiring kit should have a terminal connector on one end of the wire you are using for the positive. This terminal should be a ring type. Just loosen the hold down screw on the pos battery terminal and then go from there. The plastic cap and be notched to allow it to close.

I would put a fuse in line about 8 - 10 from the battery. I used a 100 amp fuse. Then run the rest on to your amp. Be sure to ground your amp as short of a distance on the ground wire as you can. The amp instructions should tell you.

Good luck

Thanks for the response. I checked out the picture you had. It helps, but doesn't answer my other question of how do you get under the red plastic part of the positive terminal. I will look for pics, but if anyone has any i would appreciate it.

I had another question. Can i ground right back to the battery from the amp or should I ground to the car frame somewhere?(suggestions on where?)

Back to the capactior. For the sake of this thread let's assume I am going to install it. I have gone back and forth about whether or not to use and have read a lot of threads. And my decision was, I am going to use it, let's not make this thread about whether or not to use it. Please, no posts on that.

So if anyone could help me out with the capacitor questions from the Original Post I would appreciate it. Thanks.

Have a look on the attached drawing. If your Cap has no remote input, skip the wiring shown in red.

i just took a pair of wire cutters and snipped a piece of the red plastic cover wide enough for the power cable you're installing clears the plastic cap when you snap it back down.

^Yes, I did have to remove a little bit as well.. on the left side so it would close.

This might be a stupid question, but does it matter how they are stacked on the cap? (i.e. input wire on top of output wire or vice versa? or it doesn't matter?)

Sounds like you might want to consider letting a pro do your install.

Regarding the cap - no it doesnt matter if it is stacked as long as you have it wired correctly. It is basically a terminal.

Regarding getting under the plastic cap, just squeeze it and it pops up. Attach the terminal ring and notch the cap.

Regarding the ground wire - depending on how long the wire run is you can either ground to the battery, the chassis ground or through bolt to a body hole. You want to keep the ground as short as possible - as I mentioned your amp documention should tell you the max length.

Cheers
