AAC afterburner halo

Who has installed the AAC afterburner halos in their tail lights? I did the install myself and it was nothing like the you tube vid demo had. I love the way they look, but what I got wasnt like the one in the vid. Instead of a LED mine looks like a flouresent bulb. Instead of double sided adheasive, I had to mix epoxy and hardner. Was just wondering if this was their normal kit.

By the sounds of it you have CCFLs

I think so. On all the you tube vids the halos are LEDs.

Yep, AAC offers two versions, CCFLs and LEDs. You happened to order the CCFLs. They do the same with the footwell lighting. For the footwell lighting either is pretty much the same but it makes a big difference with the "afterburners." The LED version is (obviously) segmented whereas the CCFL version is more fluid. If I were to go that route I'd definitely have to get the CCFLs.

Was just a pain to install using the epoxy BS. Cool thanks I feel better. I want to order the side markers next, and didn't want to run into the same deal.

I changed the bulbs out to 3156 so only the brake light work. The halos are my tail lights.

I didn't know there was a difference. I would have wanted the LEDs, because I'll eventually change all the side markers to LED. not going to pull them out now.

The LED halos are brighter because they are directional whereas the CCFL halos are more of an ambient glow (much like a florescent light bulb).

on the rear tail light, out of the three wires, which wire is the turn signal, tail light and ground ?

when you cut the lens off the housing, are you cutting the red lens plastic or the black housing plastic?

I agree with the OP, there should be better/different instructions for the CCFL install. It wasn't harder, it was just a pain expecting to stick someone one but instead having to mix epoxy and doing it that way. An inconvenience, but i LOVE the way the CCFL's look over the LEDs. SO much more subtle.
