2010 SS keeps hittin rev limiter??

Hello all. I have a 2010 SS A6. I installed a cam, head work, stall converter (3400) and an under drive pulley. The car was running good. I just installed the NX express nitrous plate kit(neat kit I may add)150HP. I'm not sure if the trans is not shifting fast or hard enough but when flowin NOS, I stay in the rev limiters(wheels are not spinning). Im sure its not healthy for the engine-but its also a buzz kill not being able to run through the gears. I have tried traction control on and off, but still same results. Anyone exp. this before or have ideas??? Thanks

Oh! I forgot to mention that I have had the engine and trans tunned

Maybe a tranny shifting issue? Probably in the tranny tune.

You will need to revisit your Tuner.

Ted.

Not to mention, Nos and the rev limiter, is like gasoline, and a match. That is the quickest way to a blown motor.

With a setup like yours you might want to look into a window switch. You can set it to shut the nitrous off 100rpm before the shift. Might help the clutches/shift out a bit.

It sounds like the tranny. When mine was on a loaded mustang dyno it took until 5000+ rpms for the tranny to catch up with the motor. The A6 tranny is junk and only good for a certain amount of hp.

Yes, it is complete garbage, my A6 banged the rev limiter at 6500 non stop rolling into throttle at 500whp only. pos. Rossler TH210xd will solve that

you just need to go back and get it tuned right. our shop car has 670 WHEEL and shifts fine on the stock trans. just have to set your shift points lower to make it work. get a window switch also save your trans that way and motor if it does hit the limiter

You didn't mention what kind of tires you are running and whether or not you were on a prepped track. If you wern't on a well prepped track and running slicks or at least drag radials, I don't see how it would be possible not to encounter wheel spin, especially 1st gear to 2nd and likely even 2nd to 3rd. With the 275 Pirelli's, even on a prepped track, my choices are to either hit the rev limiter when getting on the throttle too agressively, or roll into the throttle which produces short shifting at about 4500 rpm.

My car will bounce of rev limiter if I gas it out of first and dont back off while tires spin. If you learn to lay into throttle 1st to second it shouldnt hit after that unless the trans tune is messed up. I can never make it hit it in any other gear but I could do it all day long 1st to second that is alot of power and torque at once!

OK, sounds like I need to start with a tune adjustment first.. I was not on a track, but good warm blacktop and startin from a 30-40 mph roll. I guess I could have had some tire spin but it didnt feel like it. I didn't notice any difference when I turned traction control on or off(or in any setting)??? Should I notice a diff?? I dont fully understand what these settings do? And the window switch sounds like a good idea!

Were you by any chance using the paddles to shift? There is a lag time between when you click the paddle and when the shift ocurrs. If you were using the paddle to shift during a full throttle acceleration in first or second gear, you will probably hit the rev limiter every time if you don't click the upshift paddle when the rpm needle is very quickly passing through about 5800 rpm. This happens without wheelspin too.

No, no paddles. I was letting the car shift on its own . I dont even know why the put the paddles on the car-they are sooo slow to shift.
