5th Gen Camaro is Mod Friendly

I took some vacation over the holidays and had lined up a few mods for my SS:
  • CAGS Bypass
  • Cold Air Inductions CAI
  • ADM Race Scoop
  • Washer bottle relocation
  • Barton Shifter
  • Heritage Grill
  • Rear Chevy bowtie delete.
All went well except for the Bowtie removal. While I was able to remove the ugly gold monstrosity, the paint underneath was discolored. My dealer repainted my trunk and apparently did not remove all of the original glue.

I really do not feel like fighting with them so I will put the bowtie back on and will add a black vinyl overlay. This is really not the car's fault. But then again the repaint was caused by spoiler paint chipping. So maybe it was.

But other that that all the mods were a breeze. I also earlier added an amp and a sub and this only took a few hours. This is a well engineered car and it is easy to work on. Hooray!

After owning three 4th gens I know how ugly some mods can be.

Some things could be a little better on the 5th gen, like why can't we take the shifter out from the top? Upgrading the shifter is a climb under the car operation, but once under there the swap is not all that difficult.

So for anyone thinking about buying a Camaro and is interested in modding it is a great choice. For anyone that has one, start modding.

Thanks GM, good job on the Camaro.

Update:

I buffed and buffed the rear bowtie under paint. It finally came out clean! The dealer must have put the bowtie on before the paint was dry and it deformed the paint a little. Looks fine now but my arm is sore. :(

I bought some black vinyl to make the red part of the rear SS emblem black. But I am not too sure about that. Clean car lovers, what do you think, keep the SS?

I will keep the Camaro on the fenders for now.

Two more pics of the clean look (On the car):

Sorry the clean look car is a little dirty. I did not notice the mail slot has gills till now. Interesting. Still not a fan.

And my new CAI/Scoop is throwing a code! Modding rarely goes as planned. Part of the fun.

There was a foot of snow outside and I only have a one car garage. The foyer was the best place for grill surgery. Luckily the boss was okay with it.

People like this photo. I made it my Facebook profile pic. My kids are still making fun of me.

"That's so lame Dad!"

The Camaro washer bottle is huge and in the way of the air intake. There is some almost free HP just by moving the bottle to another location. Normally you buy a smaller bottle or a washer bag. Do this with most CAIs and the ADM Race scoop for full benefit. And save a couple of pounds unless you run your washer bottle 1/2 full all the time.

Never tried adding Halos since this is an RS. But if you have to take the front fascia off like I did it is no big deal and kind of fun.

That front end looks great. I am not sure leaving the SS fits with the rest of your ride, but I am not a badge less aficionado.

Nice

This car is almost perfect except for that "needless" SS badge. if the bow-tie is gone, the everything else should be gone.
