2010 Year in Review
(see 2008 review here)
(see 2009 review here) Its been another big year for Camaro5. Sometimes its hard to see change as it happens, but as you look back you see how far you've come. That was certainly the case for this past year. As I was trying to write this summary, at first I thought that it was a pretty slow year. Then I kept thinking of little things here and there and realized just how much has happened. The first story of 2010 was the results of Car and Driver's annual 'Lightning Lap' and the Camaro SS fared pretty well. It out paced the Nismo 370Z and the Mustang GT. Every single car that out performed it, also cost more. February brought news of some special guests who agreed to make a bit of a trip from Detroit to a little town in southern Georgia in April. The one year anniversary of the Camaro's rebirth was in March, and we were also treated to the first spyshots of the upcoming Camaro convertible with its top down April featured the first annual Camaro5 Fest in Valdosta Georgia. While not all of us could attend, those who did made sure to share their pictures, stories, and videos with the rest of the Camaro5 community. In May, our site sponsorship expanded from just The Tire Rack to countless dealers and vendors who have made it possible to keep the site free for the tens of thousands of members we have. After a little more than one year of production, the 2010 Camaro ended its run in June. The 2011's added a few features, such as HUD's for the 2LT and 2SS and the expansion of the of Synergy Green. Into the summer we were once again engaged in one of our favourite pastimes on Camaro5, spyshot analysis. This time it was a red SS with an interesting note on the passenger side dash that seemed to answer quite a few questions on the Z28 (yet still managed to raise a dozen more). In August the second annual Buyers and Builders Meet and Greet was held in Oshawa. Speaking of 2nd annual events, the location for Camaro5Fest II was announced in September. Early in October, GM released a few details on the convertible, namely that pricing would start at about $30,000. November featured the SEMA show and as always, GM brought a number of very cool Camaro's, including the SSX track car and a preview of the up coming 'Synergy Series'. And finally, in December we heard a very interesting announcement from Ford: they conceded that the Camaro will outsell the Mustang for 2010, despite the ~100 hp bump they gave to the V6 and the GT as well as the diet they put the GT500 on. So many other stories I could go on for another couple of pages, but it has certainly been a memorable year, and I bet 2011 will be better still.

Nice recap! There sure were some memorable moments in 2010. Time seems to be flying by now...and i just wish I could put everything in slow motion...ESPECIALLY during that once a year Camaro5Fest. Man, I tell ya...I LIVE for that one chance to get everyone together and just talk...talk talk talk... I've met some GREAT people all across the country and even into others who have become great friends. 2010 WAS a great year...and I'm VERY much looking forward to having an even better 2011!
