there are plenty of good aftermarket options for a strut tower brace. what are your reservations against them?

Looks nice but this will not fit a regular Camaro because the strut towers are different. It looks like GM was concerned about chassis flex in the convertibles because this is not just a cosmetic mod, they had to redesign parts to make it work. The new strut towers have raised portions with threaded inserts that do not exist on previous models. Curious whether this will be new for all models or just for the convertibles.

It looks like the brace is made from aluminum with cast mounts and an extruded center. Nice design but not compatible...

Interesting... I actually would want the BMR strut brace =o. I saw one someone had posted... Im not sure if it's for sale yet, or not. It had BMR on it, in negative space =p And it was red. That looked really good imo. lol.

^That wouldn't be possible since there are no existing holes suitable for mounting a strut bar to.

In my opinion, I think the OEM one look better and cleaner than any of the aftermarket one. Does it perform as well?... that's a different story. I don't road race my car anyways. It would come down to looks for me.
