Baby Car Seat

Does anyone here have issues with back-seat space for a baby car seat? Im in the process of looking for a car seat but wanted to gather some info before purchasing one. It would seem that the baby seat would brush up pretty close to the back of the driver or passenger seat.

.....I may just have to get a more user-friendly vehicle for a child. lol

I have had one in that back of my LT1 since day one. It fits good. My wife is about five foot nine and she has to move the seat up for out 2 year old but she still have plenty of room.

Are you talking about an infant car seat or a toddle forward facing seat? I currently have a forward facing seat directly behind the driver seat and I don't have any problems at all. When I first got the car my daughter was in an infant car seat but she was big enough to switch to the toddler seat. I did that switch immediately because it was darn near impossible puting her in and out of a back facing car seat.

Edit: I just read that you guys are due in a few months which would mean you'll be using an infant seat. Since your baby will be so small I imagine your going to just move the car seat in and out of the car which isn't too bad instead of moving the baby in and out of the seat like I was doing because she was older. I would just leave the seat in the car and take her in and out but that was challenging so I switch to the forward facing seat.

I am talking about an infant (backward facing) car seat. i havent looked at the dimensions yet but just from eyeballing the back seat space im thinking a backward facing car seat for an infant will give me some issues. My fiance is 5'-3" so i can see there being more space behind her seat than mine, as i am 5'-11".

Yeah I had to edit my response once I read you were due soon. The seat will definitely have to be behind your wife. I'm the same height as she and the infant seat sat fine behind me.

I remember a post last month about the same issue, With rear facing it was a necessity, for most people, to have the car seat on the passenger side. You could always get your wife a van or suv, just another option. Our van will be the daily driver for family and when I get my Camaro it will be for me, mostly, and then when its just the 2 of us.

Well my fiance has a honda accord and her 4-door car will be fine for our travels. I was just curious about the camaro's limited reas seat space. I may have to go with Melody301's suggestion and place the car seat behind the passenger seat. We eventually plan on getting a better family-efficent vehicle but not anytime soon. Hopefully an SUV will be in our future as well. Thanks for the responses and tips guys!!!

Yea, thats what we were thinking, the SUV part, then she decided she wanted additional seating and didn't like the lack of access on 3rd row seating in the SUV's and ended up with the van. I CAN'T wait for the Camaro, so I can have something more masculine to drive around in! No offense ladies.

Ha ha ha ha no offense at all. Although the camaro is very masculine under the hood, she very feminine on the outside...you see those big hips in the back? Definitely a lady.

My sons rear facing seat fits fine and the trunk is big enough for a big stroller. I wouldnt trade my/my sons car for an suv , it may be a little aggrevating at times but its worth it! Congrats on the baby!!!
