Leather protection.

Hey I have been told I need a really good leather protector for my seats. As I live in AZ I probably do. The car is garaged at night but it is my daily driver... Any suggestions on a good leather cleaner/ protector, and how often I should use it?

Thank you!!

I'll take suggestion on a good wax too!

Your leather interior is mostly vinyl. Lexol leather cleaner and leather protector work well. Try O'Reilleys, Autozone, or Advanced Auto.

I'll toss in my vote for Adam's Leather and Interior conditioner. I know Zaino has a great leather protectant too.

GM Conditioner off the parts shelf will do the job for a lot less.

Cool thank you! How about a good wax for the hot desert sun? Most dealers try to sell you some kind of custom wax job for $600 for 6 months or something... My old car I didn't worry about it and just used Eagle Spray N Wax, as it was silver and didn't really matter. I plan on keeping this one for as long as my 81 so I would appreciate any suggestions... I don't have a buffer only my own two hands..... lol

Good news is you don't need a buffer for most waxes. However, if you can borrow one from someone, my favorite is a layer of Adams Machine Super Wax (easiest to apply with Porter Cable buffer) followed by a coat of Adams Americana Premium Paste Wax. Not cheap, but neither was your brand new car. If you don't have access to the PC you can do one coat of Americana followed by another coat of Americana after the next wash.

Id personally stay as far away from what your dealer is selling as possible. You can get a tub of Americana for $70 which you apply every six months or so and will last you for years and years of applications at that pace. You use such a small amount you never run out.

Thanks again everyone... Looks like Adams it is for interior and exterior! I agree about the dealer, probably paying $600 for the $70 Adams wax... One more question, do I need to wait to wax it? I purchased the car 12/26/10 ...

No need to wait.. Factory paint jobs are baked/cured at the factory. They are more or less ready for wax when they come off the line. The only time you would need to wait is after a fresh body shop paint job.
