Question about keyed power source

I have a question about keyed power.
In the fuse panel on the drivers side dash I need to find a keyed 12v.
Question being.. Can I get the keyed power from the fuse side of the panel with a tap fuse, or do I need to TAP into tha actual wire on the other side of the fuse panel?

I'm installing a boost guage in the pillar.

Also what fuse/wire would you tap into?

Thanks, Stratman

Even though I despise them, you can use a fuse tap. I would always recommend tapping into a wire though. If you use a tap, make sure it's on the correct side of the fuse so the fuse protects the equipment being installed.

is there a difference between tapping off of the inside fuse block and the one under the hood....somebody said that for the afr gauges and the boost, that the ones in the interior fuse panel would not work because they lose power during cranking......not sure if it makes a difference. Also.......does the afr gauge need a engine-ground as opposed to just a body-ground like what is available in the inside fuse panel?
