??? for an insurance agent

If you have full coverage on your car and this happens.
the engine locks up you lose control and have a accident with a tree.Say $2000 in body damage .Would the repair of the engine be covered by insurance as well as the body damage ?

what if you lost control and hit a tree and that caused the engine to lock up?
would insurance be liable to replace a motor?

in order to hurt the motor it would mostlikely be a total loss anyway.

I am NOT an agent either....just my 2 cents....

I am a former insurance man. If your engine breaks causing an accident the accident damage will be paid for, but the engine will not be. Its considered a mechanical issue. I've never heard of an engine "locking up" and causing an accident. Engines blow, but they still spin they never just "lock".

Now if you had an accident that damaged the engine, then its covered, although honestly if it was that bad it would likely total the car.

I'm an agent (thus the name)

Damage in accident - yes.
Engine - no.

Imagen the engine locked up and didnt cause an accident - would your engine be covered then? Nope, and not in this case either.
