L99 tranny flaring after tune

I’ve had my SCT tune loaded on my 2011SS for about 5 months now. Although I do have a custom dyno tune, the tune I use all the time is basically the stock shift points with the AFM delete. All was fine up to a few days ago. I always drive in “M” mode without using tap shift. While merging onto the highway I would say between 4th and 5th gear my RPM’s shot way up and I was going nowhere fast! I panicked and through it into “D” and it caught the gear. I’ve put on at least 40 miles since then and it has not duplicated. From the research I’ve done this is common after tunes for the L99’s. But I don’t see how flaring (aka) slipping can be common. Is my tranny shot after 6K miles??

I hit that problem (RPMs shot up around 4500...) once a very long time ago! I'm nearly at 7,800 miles and haven't had it happen since, and the tranny seems to be absolutely fine.

When I had a full exhaust and tune done on my car I asked about the shift flare problem I read about and was told that one of the problems with tuning the A6 is you dont want to take the torque management completely off.(I know that some tuners will take the torque mangement completley out) My car shifts firm when you are just driving normally but at wot the shift is a little bit softer. Supposedly this is one of the ways you can avoid shift flare.

I'm going to load my strip tune and see if it happens again. TM is almost completely removed and will screech the tires from first to second. Not very comfortable shifting for driving around town but I'm curious if the tranny will flare again.

it almost sounds like when you go to full throttle, its shifting to a lower gear then expected, finishing that gear, and going to the next gear.

Im curious to hear how much if any knock your getting when you are cruising then go full throttle
