K&N Intake

Just ordered a K&N Intake for my Camaro 2LT/RS...wanted to make sure if K&N is the way to go?

I have InJen on my V6 and love it ! Read the threads on here about the HP gains of all CAI setups and they are 1 of the top performance kits. And the sound is Great to IMO. Plus with a good exhaust system It's a whole different sounding car.

I was at my dealer Friday and I ask the service mgr about a K &N system, He said that in the local area alone, there was 4 tranny failures due to people adding to much oil to the filter, clogging MAF and over heating the tranny.

Moderation in all things.

Sort of late for the question seeing that you already ordered it.

as apex said it's due to moderation. some people forget to also let it set for a while after applying the final oil. i have had the k&n drop in, and a k&n short ram intake on my honda, and my car has been perfectly fine for 20k miles.

Granted my honda is no camaro, but I wouldn't see much of a difference.

edit: and to answer the OP, K&N is the way to go. granted there may be better intakes out there, but the growl that the K&N adds is incredible. plus a million mile warranty, who can beat that?

I have a K&N CAI system and a Magna flow dual exhaust. Sound is abit loud on a long run at a steady 70-75 but I am getting about 20 mpg now.

Amen brother.

Not too sure there are BETTER intakes out there. Ive seen dyno #'s where k&n vomed out on top. Others may give you a choice color and may be chrome, in my opinion just for looks.

The K&N is definitely worth it. The sound alone will reinforce that permagrin

there's a reason the K & N filter produces more horsepower on the dyno....they filter like trash. I wouldn't put one on the 6.2 diesel that I drive let alone a my Camaro. I race circle track and you wouldn't belive what those filters will do to the cylinder walls of an engine. I would steer clear of K&N but that's my opinion based solely off of observation of pre-mature worn out rings and cylinder walls due to the particals that those filters let in.

love my K&N CAI. Not exactly true cold air but meh. Much more agressive sound and i wouldnt worry about what supersport says. Not every company produces a 100% perfect product. a small percentage will always be defective. But anyways, if you were worried about the too much oil thing, you could always buy a dry filter to replace the oiled filter later on.

Why I'm sticking with my Airaid v2 mod. The filter is oiled but has a second, inner lining for extra protection and so oil doesn't go where it isn't wanted

I have the cold air inductions on my ss and I'm thinking I will just buy replacement filters instead of re-oiling and running the risk with my MAF sensor. Anyone else doing this?
