Kooks ARH Headers Merge Collector
I have narrowed down my selection for a set of headers. I either want Kooks or ARH 1 7/8" short system with catted connection pipes. I am going to retain the factory H pipe and mufflers. What it comes down to is ease of installation and the style of merge collectors. I see that Kooks uses a ball and socket connection and ARH uses a slip fit connection. What's the difference? Any advantages or disadvantages? Which one installs easier? I want the easiest system to install since my car is under warranty and if I had to put the stock manifolds on I wont kill myself. I would think the Kooks would be easier because you wouldn't have to slide the H pipe back when installing, however I could be wrong.
Thanks |

ball and socket is tons upon tons easier to install/take off. it makes adjusting them a lot easier and taking a slip fit connection off, after it's been on for awhile, is a huge pain in the arse. They never just "slip off", it takes a lot of pounding.
i would go with kooks, but i'm also biased.....

Better seal with a slip fitting... I went with ARH 1 7/8" with the setup you are considering. What type of connector pipes did the mfg use when they built your camaro? There was a reason for their choice.
ARH is a easy company to deal with - they are very focused on customer service... |

Ronnie, The slip fit does not leak and also provides a smoother transition from the collectors to the exhaust. Our connections and clamps are OEM quality and because you're working with 304 S/S there's no corrosion to worry about when disassembly is required. If you PM me a contact number I'll gladly reach with all the details. I appreciate you considering ARH.
