OMG! What just happened to my car?

OK, now that I can start breathing again. The facts:
"11 2SS/RS A6, 1600 miles on it, not my daily driver so I drove it 5 days ago for about 45 mins, its been very cold here 12-20 deg (ambient temp) at night and in the 20's during the day. I go out and start it to go to the store this morning its 40 deg out. Car starts, battery sounds a hair on the weak side, and the engine sounds like its missing on a cylinder, the CEL is flashing. The message center says Service Stabilitrak Soon all 3 lights are on for the traction system. OH F---!!!
I turn the car off and grab for the phone. Call the dealer and start the car again while I'm waiting. The car is now running like a champ. The service guy gives me the . "Run it and if it happens again call us we can't tell unless its doing it when we check it. I ran it for another 40 mins to do errands. Now, I'm not mechanically inclined, just wondering what could have happened and if anyone else has had it happen to them? I'm guessing because of not being run and the cold. I thought that codes would be stored for a short while not just during that use of the car.

My friend had that same problem in his 2009 silverado. It's at the dealer being serviced right now. I'll find out what was wrong when he gets his truck back and let you know what it was.

I've only gotten the "Service Stabilitrak" message, but only when I flick-start it versus holding the key. There are 2 options with the Camaro--you can twist the key all the way forward and hold it until the engine starts, or you can just do a quick flick forward to the start position and release, and the car still runs the starter until the engine turns over.

Cool, thanks..

Onstar said I would have to call when the lights are on etc... but their diagnostic showed everything was good with no currents codes. Thanks for that advice h20play I didn't think of that source of info.

Welcome to owning a late model GM...it won't be your last alert code. GM's are funny that way for some reason. Sometimes a sensor is out of range and needs replaced and sometimes there is no explaination and nothing is wrong. Kind of a bad thing though...I never know whether to take it serious or not if the vehicle seems to be running fine. My silverado once would only show one gear (Drive) and the speedometer didn't move past 10 mph. It seemed to be running fine. I drove it that way 5 mile to daycare to drop off the rug-rat on the way to work, waited 5 minutes, fired it up again and it was fine...never happended again. I've had various other lights come on with the silverado, my wife's Acadia, a previous Colorado, and a couple beater Z-24's. Wouldn't worry about as long as it's running fine and goes away...if it stays on take it in. Nothing yet with my Camaro...which is Ironinc considering I was told that It would start throwing codes when I put long-tube headers on it. I've since supercharged it too, no codes...knock on wood

Man and I thought it was bad when my USB port doesn't always work right when I start the car.
