Cool Can a 3.8L V6 Camaro compete with newer V6s

Just wondering if 4th gen 3.8L V6s can compete with any of the newer Mustang, Camaro, Charger, V6s. Or even if they can compete with any imports such as GTI, WRX, etc. Asking because I have a few friends with a few of these vehicles and was wondering how I would compete at the track?

The new camaro and new mustang v-6 would kill the 4th gen 3.8l.

a modded 3.8L is a very potent motor. Intense Racing here in Columbus Ohio set many records with 3.8 SC and TC motors with some running deep into the 9's and high 8's ( i believe). Most of their platforms were FWD which is not apples to apples. They have proven that the 3800 series motor is pretty stout. There are people pulling incredibly quick 1/4 mile times.

I don't believe he wasn't talking about a modded 3.8l. Once the modding starts the comparisons pretty much go out the window.

i realize that....but for the sake of entertainment...there are more 3.8 FI motors running sub 10 than 3.6L DOHC motors of any sorts....

edit: by 3.6L, I am referring to GM.

The new one should be pretty quick for a V-6 ,but that's yet to be seen.

You're gonna need some serious mods to keep up with cars for today. At the minimum youll have to tear up the car, meaning all bolt ons etc. Id find something else and sell it if you want to go fast.

i agree with the potential of the 3.8.

remember the turbo buicks? 3.8's...

but back on topic...yeah, those cars would slaughter.

back off topic: if you have a 98 3.8 F-body, nitrous is teh win. the throttle body on them is angled down, so if you have a nitrous sneeze, it blows out the tubing between your airbox and the t/b.
i know this because i sold my nitrous kit to my old roomie who had a 98 Firebird and he missed a gear a few times racing and no problems. pretty stout shortblocks too.

The V6 Challenger should be no problem. I believe the new engine will have less HP than the V6 Camaro, and it will weigh more as well.
