Forum Question
I know we just got news of the ZL1 and were all excited, some are not. But why is it the site as drastically changed to ZL1 status?
I mean, look at the top " 2011 Camaro ZL1 Forum..." I mean I love C5, happy the ZL1 is coming now, but im not sure why the Z28 section was changed to the ZL1 section. ![]() I mean the Z28 could be coming out still and I hope it does. I dont know if im out of line, or if no one cares, just seems wierd thats all lol

Because a Z-28 has always been a lower model than an SS. The original ZL1 was a 1969 427CI engine.

I thought the Z/28 was coming out with an LSA engine all the way until today, then I hear about this ZL1 nameplate in place of it ?? Really ?

Typical GM tactics. Keep em all guessing, change our minds frequently and shoot ourselves in the foot as they have done in the past i.e Fiero, Cadillac Allante. When they get something right, they stop production. If you see something you like BUY it and don't worry about it. Life is to short. I traded my 600hp 2006 vette for a Camaro. I liked it, decided a change was do for me.

Yeah , I am one of those that isn't real happy with it. They have put magnetic ride control on this car , track ready cooling systems and a heavy duty driveline. Now all of his seems like a car that was built to handle great not to mention the huge hp numbers. I think this car would have been great as a Z/28 especially if they would have used the LS3 in it and not the LSA. If the ZL-1 was in the works it should have been built off of an 1SS platform and been a lower optioned car with big hp / tq. It could have been offered with a few interior options and so on but its main draw should be the raw power just like the ZL-1 's of old. Those cars were straight line monsters as well this one should be. I just dont like the whole idea of this car yet , and dont know if I will. I love Camaro and GM so I hope it sells great. I just know that there wont be one in my driveway. I plan on getting a Z/28if and when it shows and its not stupid expensive , so I guess I will enjoy my SS for years to come.

Not to mention SLP's ZL-1. I just dont get it , I know all about them having rights to ZL and not ZL-1 and all of that. It just doesn't make sense that GM would introduce the same name plate that SLP did in the same yr.

honestly the ZL1 name makes a LOT more sense than the Z/28 name did. As the Z/28 has yet to be more of a performance moniker than SS.

LMFAO
I love how the OP complained that this forum is caught in "ZL1 Madness", in which, literally, if you hit the "New Posts" link, that there are at least half of the threads about the ZL1, all of which are talking about the same damn thing. And then this thread, in 3 posts, gets turned into another thread talking about the stupid ZL1. I think the original poster is 110% correct and this thread just proved it.
