Beautiful February Sunday!

So, the weather started out clear, but the clouds came in.

I decided to try out the new in-car camera I got by doing a preview of part of the Route 20 drive we'll be doing later on this year.

As usual, it was beautiful up at Diablo Lake.

As far as the video, I need to work on the rattling sound...I think it's the mount, and I'm going to have to play around a little more to find a way to eliminate the noise. Otherwise, the GoPro HD Hero takes awesome footage. Note that some of the time I'd rolled down the windows, so you can hear that in the background noise.

The camera might be rattling against the windwsheild. I set my little canon with 4" tripod on the dash sometimes. In almost every video I can hear the camera rattling against the windshield. Something to check anyways. Great drive.

It isn't close to the Windshield, actually. A good 2" away, at least. There's two things it could be...the latch which holds the clear plastic case that surrounds the GoPro, or the mount. I'm pretty sure it's the mount. There's a piece that is mounted on the center dash (the angled part, right at the edge). The mount slides into that piece and clicks kind of like a seatbelt. I noticed that it rocks a little fore and aft, and I think when it hits the bumps it makes that noise. I'm going to try to see if using paper to shim where plastic meets plastic will stop that noise. I'm also going to check out the other mounts because the camera came with a bunch of mounts and so I may be able to find another one that doesn't make that noise.

Here's a picture of the mounts that came with the camera:

Makes sense, it could be rattling inside that little plastic case. That suction cup arm looks like one we ordered for the Handy cam. We'll have to make our practice run when it gets here. Also looks like we have 6 who have made reservations at the Rio. The Winthrop run is starting to shape up nicely already. And it's only February.

Oh, and there's an added bonus at the end of the second video...
