Battery dead??? after 8 days!!!

Hey guys! Just got back from an 8 day business trip and found my Camaro's battery is totally dead. Put the key in the ignition and now it doesnt even come out. SO now the battery is dead and the key is in the ignition. My question is should the battery have died after eight days? The car is a year old and has 6500k miles.
another question is should the dealer have to replace or should i get a new battery on my own?

You have free roadside assitance with your warranty.
You have a 3yr bumper to bumper warranty.
The car should be picked up and battery replaced at no charge to you.
Talk to the dealer......If you're sure it's only the battery, I would rather take the battery out myself, bring it to the dealer for exchange and put the new battery back in the car myself, to avoid possible damage from the tow.

But, there could be other problems besides a dead battery, like the alternator or something else, which the dealer would check out if the car was at their service dept.
Either way, with the warranty, I can't see how you should be paying anything.
Are you sure you didn't leave the door open slightly, or a dome light on or something? That would drain the battery within a day or two.

I'm going to play the other side of the coin. There is minimal chance the dealer is going to just give you a new battery. They are going to want to see the car and determine WHY the battery died in only 8 days. How do we know the OP didn't leave a light on or something??? The dealer isn't responsible for owner irresponsibility. My best suggestion is to get a battery charger and hook it on low voltage and let it SLOWLY charge overnight. The next day, start the car take it to the dealer and let them check it out. DO NOT JUMP IT. The alternator will try to charge the battery too fast and potentially kill the battery and alternator. This happened to me on my C6, it died in 2 weeks but thats bc of the smart key always searching for the fob. Charged overnight, started up, never another issue. Now why you car died in 8 days??? My guess is something is wrong in the car ( not battery) or you left something on.

When I use to work at a dealership, the battery would be covered (pro-rated). So after the first year, you pay a certain percentage while they cover the rest and so forth. Exa.) 1st year - 100% dealer, 2nd year - 90% dealer/10% customer.

The battery should have it's own warranty.

ok. Decided to take the battery to have it checked. I noticed fingerprints on th driver side door , some im guessing some family member decided to check it out and might have left some light on. That i will verify once i connect the charged battery.

However still worried that i cant pull out the key from the ignition. the fact that the battery is dead prohibit you from pulling the key out of the ignition??

I hope i get you before you take it in, make sureif you just take off the terminals off then put them back on then see if you can start your car. I had a similar problem and after a 2.5 hours, finding out i would have to pay about 150 or more after all is said and done, we reinstalled the battery and it worked. Just throwing my two cents in

Dont the lights turn off after so many minutes if the car isn't running. Even if the lights are clicked over to on (bypassing the auto lights). Although, with the aut lights, why would anyone need to keep them on? Even if they are left on, the cars going to beep at you once you turn the engine off. I hear it all the time when I leave the halos on. Reminds me to turn them off befor leaving.

I would asume the same goes for the radio. Turns off after so much time if the car isn't actually running

Thats a bummer about the battery, but at least now the mystery is solved, and isn't a nagging little thought in the back of your mind.. "When is my car going to just randomly die next time..?" That would be horrible to try and live with.
