Question Help With Borla S type exhaust PLZ

Hi ,

So i just installed Borla S type exhuast today. It sounds awesome. however when i had my friend sitting next to me i was trying to talk but the drone was little loud especially when i go above 2,000 RPM . So i decided to shift really fast it actually eliminated a lot of drone as long as i keep it around 1500-1700 RPM.

Then i hit above 70 on speed meter (6th gear) i started to hear this annoying noises . My question is if i get a tune up will it reduce the drone slightly lower? Btw i don't have header installed , but the shop still recommended me to do it .Should i do it?

What your opinions?

Thanks for reading this

I've heard that all borla's drone. I have never owned a borla kit, so I'm only going on hearsay. I'm pretty sure it has to do with the piping and mufflers moreso than anything else. I'm not sure a tune will help with drone at all. Maybe a tiny bit.

Most people get drone below 2000 rpm's. Are you sure you don't have an exhaust leak? That would make it louder the faster you went.

My axleback has a sound at around 1800 rpm.(l99) Any rpm above or below the sound is perfect!!!! After the third time of driving with the borlas I do not even notice the 1800 rpm sound. The borla "S" is a nice low rumble.

The tone will mellow out in a while, but you will always have some drone around 75-80 mph.

ehh, never bothered me ...If I have the music on AT ALL, I do not hear the exhaust. I will be curious to see how much that changes with LTs.

Ive got mine on with Highflow cats. Wasn't loud enough with just the borla catback so I added the high flow cats. The first month of driving it was annoying but only in the 70-77 mph range. You just need to get used to it and I've had mine on for over a year now.

Got any clips after your fix? Curious if it changes the overall note or aggressiveness of the s type.

hmm well that is concerning, but wouldn't the increase volume have something to do with your additional mods and your SC? I do want LTs and cats, but I will be stopping with the addition of those and the CAI.

Does the "I bought a V8, not a honda" cop out work?

WTF?? the hemholtz does nothing but eliminate the drone..has nothing to do with how loud the exhaust is... I have no cats and no mufflers...does that sound like i'm trying to sound like a ricer?? shesh...

Make sure the pipes are not touching the chassis cross brace. This was my problem for awhile and the drone was bad since it was actually in contact with the chassis. Once it was repositioned the drone went down quite a bit.
