Question brakes already?!

Had new tires mounted this morning and the tech tells me that my front pads have around 15% and rears 45%.
26,000 miles.
What am I looking at-cost wise here? Do I habe to turn em, of can I order some hawks and clip em in?

Man you must really be hitting the brakes to burn through a set in 26k. Either or, they are performance pads so I guess it really isn't that surpassing. For OEM pads probably $200 for both sets, then install cost if you have the dealer do it but its real easy to do so may as well DIY. For hawks ceramic you are probably looking at $250-300 depending on what company you buy from. Again, plus install cost.

You might want to get a second opinion on that. The tire company "might" be looking to generate some business. Just saying!!!

That's verry true. 2-tone...(not that id let em touch em anyway) heck I don't even buy my tires from them.just have em install for me. Even with 15% that's around 30k miles- I remember my fathers porsches needing pads 30-35k. Man I love this car, but I cant save money for mods if I gotta constantly buy tires and brakes hahaha!

Mine start making that metal sqeeking noise lately. It has always put off a TON of dust, now I'm thinking they need changing...but I'm at 8K.

or am I being over protective again...

You can just look through the wheel and see how much meat is on the pad.
Take your finger and rub across the rotor. If there's no gouges in the rotor, and the pads are shot, just pick up a set of pads.

You can swap out the front pads yourself in less than an hour and save yourself a few hundred from what a shop will charge you.

If you don't know how to do it, just google it, there's plenty of step by step instructions for changing out pads.

Ya I did that and looks ok, thought the leading edge "looks" thinner than the back of the same pad.
