not enough v6 with gear upgrade
is there not enough manual v6'ers or not enough interest in gear upgrade? I see plenty of you all trying to squeeze as much hp/tq out of these expensive bolt on mods so why not upgrade your gears? From everything that I've seen it look like gear upgrade is no brainer. 3.73 gear is equivalent to almost 50lb of tq? Im not a power junkie but I know enough to know that tq is what will actually push your car and give you that whiplashing get sucked in the seat feeling, and probably will easily get you in the high 13 sec quarter mile time just with the gear change. Is zmadness the only one here with the 3.73? I think if you have a manual than a gear upgrade should follow before any other bolt on mods since we can share with the v8 parts. I guess I can see why automatic camaro's would pass for now but not if you drive a manual. What are your thoughts on this? Im not even going to touch any other mods before I put my gear in.

I don't want to void my warranty yet. That is why I am reluctant to do mods such as this.
I'd consider that once the car is paid off and the warranty is up.

zmadness was the first one to do it but we have had about a half dozen other V6 M6 owners do it since.

I know some peoples complain about their gas mileage but other than that what are some downside driving with 3.73 everyday? Our cars now has stock 3.27 or somewhere around there right? so I guess going with 3.73 is not too big of a jump like going with 4.10 or bigger.

This is definitely something I'm interested in doing. Got to save up for it, but I want to get a tune first.

Anything less than 3.73 isn't worth it imo. Anything more than 3.73 is kind of over kill for a V6, soooo someone make some darn 3.73's already! sheesh.

3.73s for manual and 4.10s for autos... that's my general rule of thumb.... Had both3.73s and 4.10s in my V6 Stang... the 4.10s were much more fun!!!

I agree with the OP, I've decided to go with 3.73's, I believe it's a bigger bang than a $2000 exhaust.

You'll have to figure on the tune with gears. Speedometer will be off.
Look at clutch upgrades for our mighty v6. There aren't any, yet, stateside. I've taken it to the track a few times and this clutch heats up quick and doesn't like it. I have always gotten my best run of the day within the first 3. Then it steadily gets slower. I haven't heard much from Z lately. I hope his clutch is doing well. I also have gone to a shorter tire(3-inches shorter on my drag radials, less on my street tires) that has the same effect as going with gears and I didn't have to crack the diff open to do it.
