Recommend me some speakers $400 budget

I have the harnesses coming from ******** to replace factory BA amp. Will be using a 5 channel amp and 10' inch sub. Next thing will be to replace BA speakers. Need 6.5 components and 6x9's. Looking for best bang for the buck. Would like to stay under $400 for all 4 speakers. What do you guys recommend. Thanks.

I picked up some Kickers. Was around $100 for all 4 off of Amazon. They aren't competition speakers by any means but, they sound pretty good. Definitely, better than the factory speakers and they are very reasonable. As far as sound quality goes, the highs are crisp and the lows have punch. I did use some Dynamat to help so that jumps the price another $50.

For lower priced speakers I like Polk or Alpine. They have nice smooth sound and good bass.

I've seen some people using JL on this forum. Are these pretty good?

I'm using JL component 6.5's in the door and 6x9's in the rear. My combo is a bit outside of your specified price range, but if they are a representation of other JL choices, I say go for it!

I have hertz deici 165 up front and retained factory 6x9. They are a big improvement. And you could also get their 6x9 and stay around 300

If you like the JL Audio speakers a local car audio shop has a great deal on two sets of JL Audio sets. Here is the link for the speakers: http://www.freemansstereovideo.com/n...iththeold.html

These should be in your budget.

You may take a look at our Stage 2 speaker setup, It replaces the front speakers with the Precision Power A2.65C Component Speakers, and adapts the rear 6x9's to 6.5" speakers and runs the SoundStream 6.5" mid-Drivers in the rear deck.

Since you are running a sub, the stage two setup gives you fantastic mids and highs up front and the SoundStream mids in the rear to tie your Sub to the front speakers seamlessly. They also come in well within your budget.

OP - sorry about hi-jacking your thread :(.
What is the benefit of changing 6x9's to 6.5's? I have a non BA system and am looking at changing speakers and adding an amp. I have no real plans on adding a sub. Not really looking for that thump. I was planning on replacing the 6x9's with a new set of 2 way 6x9's. Just wondering if there is a real benefit.

6.5" offer a wider selection of options and will in general sound better (not always there are some great sounding 6x9's for around $300-$400 out there). You will notice in most high end systems, 6x9's are not ever used. Equal distribution of weight around the suspension is a major reason.

If you aren't looking to add an indpendent subwoofer then changing out to a 6.5 in back and going with the 6.5" Kicker infinite baffle subs would be a great way to go. You get the deeper bass and keep your soundstage up front. That is how we have our Stage 1 package setup
http://www.sparksai.com/product-p/5gencamspkstg1.htm

The other big reason to move to a 6.5" is the range of options. In 6x9's the more you pay usually the more tweeters you add to the 6x9. If you look at the mid cone and suspension, it is the same from the basic 2-way to a 5-way and you are unlikely to hear a difference unless hearing the empty sound in your wallet. 6.5" speakers you can get a wide range of Coaxil and subwoofers, but also Mid-Bass drivers which can help bridge the sound gap between overly powerful subwoofers and strong tweeters.

If you are the type of guy thats looking for Volume and ALOT of sound i would stick to 6x9s,they are a full range speaker and have alot more cone area so they will be louder. If you are building a CORRECT sound stage you would ditch the full range 6x9s ...
