416 Owners or Sponsors come in please, FAST ?
I'm currently building a 416 my setup is like this....
• Ls3 block • Scat crank • Eagle h beams • Manley pistons with -2cc reliefs • Piston walls and bearings have been coated with a microblue coating. • ARP mains and head bolts • motor had been built by AES racing • heads are Lingenfelter polished and ported Ls3 heads, milled to 65cc's for 11.7-11.8 compression ratio ( gm mls gaskets) using comp 925 springs. • cam will be a comp cam 243/259 .624 lift on both sides on a 114+3 using LsR lobes • stock rockers with a trunion upgrade and comp chromoly pushrods. • lifters I'm on the Fence with the Comp lifters I believe are the 860's? Or should I use the Lunati street link bar setup?? BUT my biggest question is, IS THE FAST 102 and T/B worth me spending over $1100 hard earned dollars? I haven't read of a member here or on Ls1tech or any sponsor with a back to back or track run before and after using these. Now don't get me wrong I don't want to start a debate or anything, just a little proof of the gains members or sponsors are gaining, sort of the awesome comparos janettey racing has done with the headers and CAI's. I just want to know is it worth the money or should I spend it else where? I would really appreciate your feedback. Thanks Zeke

Well litlle88 I also went for the 416 build and i ask myself the same question. Me and good friend (HtownSS) did the job in my garage and just had it tuned at a local shop. The shop that did my tuning was doing the "same" build but the only diffrence was he already had a FAST intake and alot bigger cam. The end result was 20rwhp.Here is th intresting thing I made more power under the curve then he did. From 2000rpm to about 5000rpm I made about 20-30 rwhp then the other car. I cant say its not worth the money I just cant justify it. If I came across a steal of a deal I dont think I would pass it up.Its like they say U have to pay to play.......Good luck keep us posted!

From engine dyno testing at Texas Speed. The fast was only as good as the ported stock intake.

Do you have any info on your cam specs or dyno graphs on your tuning sessions? I ask because I want to see if the Ls3 can hold it's own til 7k that's where I believe I'll be shifting with my cam setup. Thanks again Zeke

Most 416's peak earlier than the shorter stroke LS3 and L99 engines. I shift my car at 6400.

http://www.mcssl.com/store/cc-perfor...tegory/5058544 Tony Mamo has seen some real good gains with his porting of the FAST intake so it really comes down to who does the work. Straight out of the box its not such a good deal but there are gains when you have them ported by someone who knows what they are doing. Its all relevant as far as cost goes.. you spend 5000 for the first 200 hp and then 1400 or so for the next 15-25 and then its even more expensive to make more power after that. Its a sliding scale. After you reach certain level it take a lot more money to make a little more power Last edited by CC Performance; 02-27-2011 at 02:55 PM. |

Not knocking them, since there is a growing trend of 416's being built I don't see any results or comparos of this intake. I know Patrick G did One but that's the only one and that's with a 6.0 and a small cam and he went back to cathedral ports I believe.

Yea Tony emailed me that link.. they used his 230 heads
The LS3 intake isnt that bad and if you have it ported then it's decent. I dont offer it with our 416 package.(FAST) but I did just pick one up to replace my LS7 intake. I port matched it and am painting it, I posted a quick blurb in the cosmetics section. I could have gone with an LS7 factory for less but the ported fast will move more air. But the engine is an air pump, the more air it moves the more power it makes so when all is said and done the intake that moves the most air wins... but thats at the top end and unless you need it you dont need it... if you now what I mean. Not happy with your choice in engines..but they are local to ya.. hahahahahaha If you had to choose between mamo and tooley Mamo is the man ! Last edited by CC Performance; 02-27-2011 at 04:46 PM. |

Great engine combo!!!
If you have tons to spend, save that $1,100 and put it towards an ITB crossram intake. I modeled this combo at 565rwhp with 19" long ITB runners, at 3 sq. in. dia. That's roughly $3,000 for 50-55 more rwhp. Add some custom build Tri-Y race headers to this if you can find another $2,500 and you could put pushing around 575-580 to the wheels. It's only money -- LOL!!!
