AAC Halos help
How hard was it for you guys to install these? I bought dual color from AAC + fog halos so how long would all this take me to put on? The instructions that came with the kit are pretty short and not detailed. Where do you wire the halos to?

It took me 7.5 hours start to finish. Then wiring took about another hour. Its not too hard of an install, about a 7 on my scale. Search for "instructions AAC halos" I posted some very detailed instructions for the wiring of single color halos. Then for dual color halos search "dual halos on a single switch". If you have any other questions let me know.

Give yourself at least 24 hours for the headlights when you reseal them so that they are water tight, believe the sealant only take 3-4 hours to cure, but I gave them 24 hours to be safe. Also you can do both headlights in about 3 hours taking your time and be patient, that is the key, don't get in a rush or you will mess something up, I know I did since I started them late Friday night and was getting tired and just wanted to get one done quickly.
I have the colorshift halos, so I ended up attaching the box to my trans cooler mount on the front beam of the car. I have not done the fog lights yet, haven't had much time lately to finish those installs, as I am wanting to use a diffuser so you cannot tell they are leds in the fog lights. Do a search and you will see how others have hooked them up and some pictures on the installs also here, if I remember correctly. There is a you tube video on how to install them also and if they sent you a disc with the lights, there is a tutorial on installing the halos in the lights. Good luck and just take your time, do not rush through it as it will take that much more time redoing them. It is not bad if you have a plan laid out, then you can pretty much just go through the install, taking the headlights apart was the hardest part, but once you get the hang of how to get them apart, it is actually easy.

how did you guys wire them? Does the white halo still come on the same times that the old white halo did? As well as being able to manually turn it on? Anyway to wire it like that?
-Keeps all old existing functionality of the old white halo -But also allows you to turn it on / change colors whenever you want Just trying to decide if its worth it to pay $200 for someone to do it for me, or me to do it myself. |

I haven't ordered yet. But right now I'm leaning towards the colorshift, as I cant make up my mind which color I want. It's a white camaro. Another plus to the colorshift is being able to turn it on and off from my Homelink in my car (no drilling required). But do you think colorshift can still achieve what you did? I'm down in Texas (a LITTLE bit far from PA), but hopefully I can still get help. Trying to debate whether its something I can do myself if I put the time and effort in to it, or if its something not worth the trouble and just pay $200 to have it done for me. I read that if people do it themselves, then they won't be sealed properly and get dust/fog/condensation inside. I'm placing the order once AAC contacts me back. Had a few things to get resolved. Getting a little bit worried :/ |

Oh ok. I thought it could could copy the signal of the wireless remote. Oh well.
Do you know if a colorshift is still possible to do it like the setup I had wanted? |

i did a dual color install using the factory turn on for the whites then through a relay and the aac 4 channel controller to knock off the white and turn on the red and it worked flawlessly. as far as getting to the headlights taking the bumper off isnt too hard, the hard seal of the camaro headlight is not easy at all it takes lots of time and patients and constant reheating but it can be done cleaning out the track to reinstall the lense is a process in it self. if you dont feel comfortable find your local aac dealer and see if they will do the ring install in the headlights if you take it to them, then bring them home and reinstall and wire them your self that is also an option too

I've done 3 halo installs so far and each time it gets easier. Like someone mentioned, make sure you keep thise headlights warm and leave them in there for the full 20 minutes the first time you throw them in. Also helps with the headlight if you have someone assisting you like holding it in place. Other than that, it really isn't that bad. Just a little scary the first time you do it.
