Rear end squeel

I thought I had herd a squealing noise form the rear a few times but it would come and go. Thought maybe it was the brakes but could never tell if it was the front or the rear. Today with the windows down I could hear it better. I could hear it on both sides. It seems like it needs gets worse as it warms up. Got home and checked the rotors and they were all about the dame temp and not to hot. I jacked up the rear, fired it up, threw it in gear and could here it from the rear. Had Debbie get in and put it in gear. Without getting under it and really getting into it it sounds like it is coming form the center section. It sounds like a brake squeaking or a bearing. Now the car is upset. All 3 of the traction control lights are on on the dash, it says service the stable track, the ABS light is on, and the back up sensors are not working. I am guessing this is due to the fact I was running the back tires and not the front.Gonna call the stealership in the morning.

Dealer said it is the inner joint on the RR axle assembly. It is on the way form Michigan. Hope it makes it before the weekend.

Well I hope they are correct on the "inner CV joint" being the culprit. Here is my post describing the same problem... I have been back and forth to my Dealer over the past 9 weeks.

http://www.camaro5.com/forums/showthread.php?t=134386

They finally fixed the squeel yesterday....

Update: After 4 days in the shop, problem was finally fixed. They replaced all bearings in the differential, installed new seals and fluid. Squeeling noise is gone and she is back on the road again. Mechanic said no signs of damage on the bearings but metal in the fluid indicates something definetly broke (you think?). It is scary to think that a major drive train component failed after 3000 miles with light use and no abuse. Now I am going to try comp-mode just because...

Hope this helps!

My dealer replaced the right rear hub assembly in attempts to quiet a high pitch squeel. They thought it was a wheel bearing making the noise. I waited 8 weeks for them to get parts in and drove approx. 3K miles. The repair attempt did not fix the problem. They further diagnosed that the noise is coming from the differential. Heavy metal shavings are in the diff fluid. My car is now up on blocks getting her rear-end removed and torn apart (I bet she feels violated! ) Only 6K miles and getting a colonoscopy!
I will post what is replaced to get her back on the road when i am contacted with this information.
Driving a rental car in shame...

Well I will find out tomorrow. That is the sound it is making. I. Told him it sounded like a bearing not a cv joint. I told him cv joints usually click and pop not squeal.
I wonder if they have to rebuild the rear if I can get a different gear ratio?

The dealer got in the axel assembly and got ready to install it and found out they needed to replace the nut and washer also. They got the nut and washer in and did the install. The problem sound is gone. I took the car for a nice long run just to make sure and all is well.
