Let a friend drive my SS. Never again...
Afterwards my buddy had nothing but good things to say about the Camaro. But when he MISSED 2nd gear at 5500, the grinding sound of the gears put a lump in my throat.
So I'm officially done letting friends (he was the 2nd person to drive it) drive my camaro. I can't handle the anxiety... I love my baby too much...

I let my friend drive it and he did the same thing... He drives manuals all the time and not to make excuses for him but Im convinced it has to do with the transmission. Sometimes it just doesnt feel like it wants to go into 2nd. |

Do your self a favor... anyone with an M6, get a short throw shifter. Brand is of no concern, just get one. The factory one SUCKS. So easy to miss a shift.
For the OP to feel better... Its happended to all of us. The first time my wife drove mine she rounds a corner slowly in second then mashes it, goes to shift into third and jams it back in first and drops the clutch and mashes the throttle. The tires screeched so hard from the sudden decelleration I though I was going to die!... then she proceeded to do it AGAIN! The hurst shifter got ordered that day! I guess thats one way to test the output shaft!

wow no way in hell would i let anyone but my wife drive my car. The reason i don't care about my wife driving it is because she hardly ever asks! You are a very trusting person i would never of let that happen. You are a good friend.

The only 2 people I have let drive my car are my Wife of 32+ years and my son (USAF 10 years) I've had a few friends ask to drive it.
But so far, I've been able to avoid actually letting them... I would imaging once the car is a few years old. It will be easier to let someone else drive it...

I agree. Plus, the wife helped pay for it!! I tell her if she busts it, we'll just fix it (And I do mean that too). She's just a little hestitant to drive the car nowadays. Not sure why- it is an automatic!!

Been there done that & never again ! I let my son in-law take it for a spin with me in the passenger seat and you would have thought he was at the strip.Just no respect for my car Had to tell him to back off of it.No one respects and values your car like you do.
