Engine Light!!

Ok so i just got a p0420 code
which is catalyst efficiency below threshold bank 1

was wondering if this is the right sub forum
anyways, does anybody know what it might be?
I know its something with the exhaust, like 02 sensors or leak

Well I have cutouts and hi-flow cats
1. I have had them for over 5 months
2. I had to install one new sensor after the cat because the original got stuck in the old cat. lol

I was thinking maybe that new sensor is a cheapo and gave out already
got it from some website online worked fine till now hopefully its something easy and cheap to fix!!! I got this car cuz my old one was a money pit!!!!
hope this doesn't start to be one now

Well any advice would be helpful thanks again !!

The high flow cats will do that sometimes. The dreaded "tune" will eliminate the light.... I have no cats so my light is always on.... you ignore it after a while...

What he means is that u will have to get a tune to fix the problem since you moved your cats back... which voids your warranty...

That code means that your catalytic converter is not removing enough CO2 from your exhaust. Could be a bad sensor, but high flow cats are just not as efficient...

An no, this is not the correct forum. You should post in the Bolt-on or Tuning forum for better responses.

By adding Hight flow CATS they are not as efficient.. causing the 02 sensors to detect excess in the exhaust. This turns the check engine light on because it thinks there is a problem with your CATS.

Easiest way to fix this is to have your vehicles computer re-programmed to ignore the cats and therefore the light goes off...

I put in a scan gauge that allows me to delete any of those codes when they come up

Thanks for all the replys,
I have a tuner, was wondering I erased the code so will it just be another random time it comes on since it has been like 6 months or is it gonna come up right away again?

Your tuner can adjust the file so the code doesn't come back
