Anyone swap v8 brembos for v6 brakes ?

Are the rotors different? What were the results ? Was there a noticeable difference ? Why did you do it ?

Why would anyone do that?

I can see it happening the other way around... or for a temporary time while getting yours powder coated or something but forever?

To fit smaller rims, more wheels options for racing

I'm actually selling my rear V6 brakes to an SS owner so he can get smaller wheels on the back.

The initial stopping distance difference between the v6 brakes and the v8 ones is negligible. However, the v6 brakes suffer terribly from brake fade. Hence why I upgraded mine. I can understand changing the rear to the v6 setup to fit a smaller drag wheel. For autox purposes I think you are going to be disappointed.

When drag racing, brake fade isn't a problem.

suppose you are not planning on racing, at all.

will the LT brakes direct bolt right to the SS? In other words, all that is needed are the calipers, pads and rotors? No difference in the mounting?

As for those asking why....sleeper...

Hope you mean drag racing, because even with good pads and fluid this car would eat the stock brakes after about 2 or 3 laps on the track. Even so I could see doing this on the back so you have more drag radial options, but you can still keep the good brakes on the front where they are needed.

I am pretty sure the mounting is identical, being that people swap in the other direction all the time very easily.

As for "sleeper"ing the car by bolting on crappier brakes, IMO thats lame. Unless you swap out the nose, and debadge it, noones going to believe its less of a car, aside from the fact its not like the V6 is a dog of a car. Don't understand downgrading a safety item to make it look slower, if you aren't gonna go full hog on it.

...especially when he has a 1LT. Unless he was just asking a purely hypothetical question..
