Question Difference Bowtie Delete 2010 to 2011 ?

Hey guys,

I just saw something pretty funny and was wondering...

If you remove the rear bowtie of the 2010 Camaro, you are left off with 2 wholes in the back....

A friend of mine just removed his one.... a 2011 model....
and no wholes!

How come?

And most of all: when did this start? to all 2011 models oder just some newer ones or...?

They were just alignment holes. No real need to have them after they were installed at the factory so they did away with them...

2011 models don't have them. Some 2010 models don't either. I think mine was built in March and it has holes, but someone on here's was built in May and doesn't, so I'd say May and after does not have holes.

The information we received from GM was that prior to 5/25/2010 the emblems had locating pins, 5/25/2010 and after didn't.

This is why we had to expand out trunk emblem line to accomodate those without pins.

Help

Can someone give me a quick tutorial on the rear bowtie delete? I want to add rear-blackout and oldschool SS. I did a brief search but couldn't find anything. Is it just tape and remove with fishing line?

Also, any problems with using 3m emblem tape on top of vinyl blackout or does it need to be cut out?

Thanks, I'm half an idiot.....

I don't know about vinyl, but the rear delete I did to replace was fast and simple... I used dental floss and went under the emblem with a sawing motion. When it was off, use goo gone to get rid of the adhesive. Comes off clean. I have a 2011, so no holes.
