Cat back vs axle back from gmpp. What's the diff?

What's the difference between cat converter back vs axle back? Does gmpp offer both?

I believe GMPP only offers the axle-back. And as the names imply, the axle-back is only that section of exhaust starting at the rear axle out to the exhaust tips. The cat-back starts immediately behind the catalytic converts and goes all the way to the tips. Usually, the cat-back systems will have some sort of X-pipe or H-pipe in the system. Hope this helps.

Helps, thanks. Where, physically, are the cats located? Right out of the manifolds?

yes if you were to look under the car it would be very clear what the cats look like and are located. if i was you i would go with a cat back. they sound better then just axle backs

Guess the cat backs remove a bit more headloss. Makes sense. Thanks guys.

I heard catback replaces the whole exhaust, makes your car breath better, and I also heard the stock exhuast weighs around 50 pounds.

the whole exhaust is headers to mufflers, a cat back is not that.

This would be further on down the line but I eventually want to buy BBK longtube headers and sometime after that a cat back exhaust system. Would I need to buy the BBK cat backs to have them fit or would any same size exhaust bolt on? Assume I have zero knowledge, because I do.

Thanks.
