Have some questions on turning in my lease

I'll be turning in my leased Lexus next month. My first and last lease and wondering what I should do to the car so the dealer can't screw me when i turn it in. The mileage is not over so I'll be ok with that. Should I have it detailed? Have the engine checked over? Open to suggestions. I want to keep my camaro fund in tact!

Clean it yourself I don't think you need a detail unless it's really dirty.

They are looking for scratch & dent I don't think it needs a spit polish. No more leasing (advice)....

I really don't have any major scratches of dents. I will never lease again! Marking it up as lessoned learned. Thanks for the advice.

Definitely don't lease again. And chances are nothing you do is going to change the value you are going to get from the dealer. That should have been laid out in the beginning when you started the lease - usually called residual value (http://www.edmunds.com/advice/leasin...7/article.html).

Whoever sales it again will run a make ready detail on it anyway. I think they only look for stuff that's broken or messed up beyond normal use. Otherwise I don't think they can bill you extra fee's.

If you fear they're going to screw you...go in making them think you're looking for a new car and ask if you'll do 'better' by buying your lease and trading it in...or just turning it in.

I would take a video, or alot of date stamped pics...
Depending on your original agreement... They can charge you for anything like excessive wear/mileage/tears in seats/dents/cracked windows etc...
Make sure that you read EVERY THING you sign when you return it. Get copies....

Good call... Is there a Carmax near you? They offer to purchase for a 'set' price, whatever price they set... but it is worth a check to see if they happen to want your Lexus more than 'Lexus'.
My lease turned out to be a very good deal for me, as GMAC had to pay way more for my truck than the current market would allow... almost perfect timing, had the Camaro been on the lot or 'showroom' in January, I would be set.
