Car dies after a bit

Need some opinions.

This morning I started my car to go to work and pulled out of my driveway and it just died. Lights stayed on and power was still going to the radio which tells me it isn't the battery. Got my car started again and started to drive up the street and it died again. Once again, started, and then died again, after this attempt, the car would crank but just wouldn't start. So I sat my car and 4 hours later on my lunch break came home, went out and started it up hoping to be able to at least get it back to my driveway and it ran for a few seconds and then just died again, and then wouldn't start. About 30 minutes later, went out and started it again, and revved the engine a bit, and then it died one more time, and again wouldn't start.

Definitely sounds like a fuel issue. The car just got filled up a couple of days ago, so it isn't that it is out of gas.

Couple of friends suggested that it is the fuel pump, another said fuel filter.

Just am wondering the opinion of some others out there.

Yup, it's the fuel pump most likely.

However, it could just be that the hoses which connect and carry the fuel from the gas tank may have just slipped off, this has happened to me before due to a faulty hose clamp.

Get a friend to stand towards the rear of the car to see if he can hear the fuel pump working when you turn the ignition to ON, if he can, then it could be what i mentioned above

If not, then yeah, its the fuel pump lol

Send a message via Yahoo to CamaroSpike23
as others have said, check the fuel pump.

turn the key to "on" dont start it
and either listen or have a friend listen for the fuel pump coming on.

if you need to replace it.

I agree it's most likely that your fuel pump has failed and needs to be replaced.
Any time you replace your fuel pump you always install a new fuel filter.

If that fails, check your spark wires. If the car is starting hard it could be a spark issues as well.

Easiest way to check it is with a fuel pressure gauge, it takes all the guess work out of it, and don't forget to change your filter. Plugged, or restricted filters, are the main cause of fuel pump failures, they overwork your pump.
