Will CAMARO follow G8?
Mid size Pontiac Dealer got their 1 and only G8 last August. Still on the lot 6.5 months later and "no one has ever written a deal on it ". Now it is discounted $7500.00. It's red ...next dealer has 2 black ...they sit unsold too!
Since they are 1st cousins, can we expect a similar response from the buying public toward the CAMARO? Why is this car bombing? The G8 has had positive profiles written in local papers and national magazines. Pontiac fans like it! Why is production reduced by 90 %? Will our CAMARO's be sitting on lots next fall with no takers? |

Not even close. G8 lacks a good product name. Can't sell cars that way anymore.
We know it's a good good solid car but it's been lost in crowd. |

I dont think the G8 has any unique styling, looks alot like any other 4 door sedan. Buyers today want a unique car, not something that blends in. Just my opinion, but I don't care for any of the current Pontiacs.
I am also not buying my Camaro for performance (thus the V6), but for the styling.

When I look at the new Camaro I need a cigarette and I don't even smoke.... it's so sexy.
G8 is "rental agency" written all over it. No offense to G8 fans as I said it's a smooth car probably drives better than my old beaters. |

Dude your dillusional...the Camaro's been gone for 7 yrs and the new incarnation (if it's limited initial run ever hits the streets)will more than likely be doomed given the current economic climate. Get 'em while you can (if you can) they won't last long. I hope I'm wrong as I'd much rather see good old American muscle cars roaming the streets than rice. But time will tell.

No way I can top your sharp wit!!! FYI I actually hope the Camaro survives as I have owned a couple in the past and I even learned how to drive a 4 spd manual in a 1976 Type LT. I think that the gen 5 Camaro's look amazing and should perform as good as they look. Not a troll, just a car guy. Peace.

I don't know about the G8 in the OP's post, but I've seen reports on car blogs here and there about a lot of dealers marking up their G8s quite a bit over MSRP and not willing to budge much on their inflated prices. How much is the G8 running up in BC? I understand some cars in Canada are still priced as if the Canadian dollar is as weak vs. the USD as it was 3 years ago...I'm wondering if that's playing a part too.
Because if it's $7500 off the equivalent of the USD MSRP...heck, I might fly up there and check it out

There are many G8's on the road here and the lots are full of them. They seem to be being turned over quite often as well so I assume they are selling. There are also many dealers marking them up.
Dealers are GM's biggest sales problem. They kill products that people will actually buy with thier crazy mark ups. There is no justification for marking up a car given the current state of the economy. A lot of people didn't like the styling but the GTO is a great example of this dealers killed them in 04 with 10k plus mark ups. So there were still tons of 04's on the lots when GM upgraded the 05's HP and appearance. |
