GM "hot" cam and 3 bolt cam sprocket

Does anyone know the difference between these 2 - GM 3 - bolt cam gears ??
3 bolt camshaft timing gear: GM Part# 12586481 - 4X camshaft gear
3 bolt camshaft timing gear: GM Part# 12576407 - 1X camshaft gear
Also, has anyone run the GM LS Hot cam p/n 88958733 ?? In the GM performance parts catalog GM claims a 12% hp and torque increase over the stock LS3 cam.
TIA.
Ed M.

The 2010 car uses a 4x gear. You might want to talk to sponsors on camshaft options, you can do ALOT better than the hot cam without a doubt. We have camshafts that add 80 flywheel horsepower to a 2010 LS3 car!

9 HP for the Hotcam

http://www.hotrod.com/techarticles/e...ons/index.html

... actually 9 HP for the hotcam and a GMPP head job (397 before and 406 after).

but .....

then there was the battle of the bumpsticks... http://www.gmhightechperformance.com...son/index.html

where it has the hotcam making 40 HP alone... go figure... granted these were numbers at the crank, but still 2 very different stories.

either way, there are alot of cams out there that make good power.... but I guess the low end torque of the hotcam looks hard to beat. I have been looking for a while but still haven't seen where anyone with a gen 5 Camaro who was running it. I decided on the Lunati grind used in both articles, just waiting for it to arrive

I think you will need the first cam gear that you mentioned (12586481)... "12586481" resulted in alot of hits via the C5 seach function, but the second one came up empty.

Also, there is an ongoing LS9 tensioner (stock in the LS3) vs. LS2 dampener debate too... when changing from the single bolt to the 3 bolt cam gear.

That dyno is broken if it is saying a GM hot cam is making over 500 wheel. LOL

You can look at the shape of the horsepower curve and tell that the dyno is broken. A GM hotcam will peak around 5300-5500 rpm in an LS3. Bogus dyno.

You sir, simply don't have a clue. Obviously, neither does the tuner. I wouldn't let someone like that tune my tricycle, much less my car.

I see those 797's being built everyday. I test the 777 and 795's mostly. So when you drive em, I was the one that flashed its computers and made sure it wouldn't fail in the first 12 hrs...

Yeah its offtopic, but yeah I work at the only place that builds the largest truck in the world.

Like I have been trying to tell you it all depends on how tuns it. You can't just trow a LS3 Hot Cam in your engine And have some Joe blow say that he can tune it for you on wheel Dyno. You have to do your research. That's like me telling you to tune up a C 175 V20 Cat diesel engine with a common rial fuel system that has 29,000 psi fuel pressure in the common rail, the engine is rated at 6000 Hp. but is detuned to 4000 Hp.now set the fuel injectors & adjust the valves, you probably would not now where to start. I rest my case

Clueless.

I've seen some dumb op's before but this guy takes the cake. There are more then just one "hot cam" and none of them will make anything close to over 500 rwhp. I don't care if GOD tunes it!

It's not the OP that takes the cake. It's Stash that has the super magic most awsomest cam tuner in the whole world that takes the cake. The OP was just asking about the GM "hot cams".
