2011 LS3 Coupe vs L99 Vert stock exhaust

Here are a couple of pictures showing the differences between a 2011 LS3 Coupe exhaust and a 2011 L99 Vert exhaust.

I installed the LS3 Coupe exhaust along with the SLP Loudmouth axle back (which was previously installed with the L99 vert exhaust) on my vert tonight and I absolutely love the sound. In my opinion, there is just way too many restrictions in the L99 vert exhaust.

BTW, the L99 exhaust in the pics weighed 37lbs. The stock mufflers weigh in at 19.5lbs each. (I didn't weigh the LS3 exhaust before I installed it, but it was significantly lighter which is obvious from the pics).

Great solution for the OEM LS3 exhaust. Glad to have helped you out.

My stock LS3 mid pipes and cat back (didn't cut it, just took it out as one piece) weighed in at 71.4 lbs.

From what I have gathered, they are some sort of spring loaded flaps that have been added to the L99 verts (my L99 coupe didn't have them) to help minimize some of the resonance when the AFM kicks in and out.

the l99 vert exhaust looks the same as a l99 coupe exhaust. the vert does really change anything for the most part.

Except the L99 Coupe exhaust doesn't have those spring loaded "rod things sticking through". At least my 2010 L99 Coupe didn't. Those things have to make the exhaust more restrictive.

Hey, anyone with a 2011 L99 Coupe, does your exhaust have these things?
(see side-by-side pics above, left side on first pic, right side on second pic)

i have read people saying "they haven't made any exhaust after market options for the verts" when the vert really has no difference in size or shape or what ever. ya maybe those rods are weird, but from the looks of it any l99 or ls3 non vert camaro after market exhaust should fit up to a vert

Tell that to Drago77.

Some fit some don't. My complete XSPower 1 7/8" headers and complete 3" exhaust fit but only because I welded it up and didn't use the supplied clamps. Even then it was a VERY tight fit. I don;t think you could get it to fit by just using the supplied clamps.

just another moving part waiting to **** up! Im glad i didnt get an L99 car. No offense to those of you that did, but everything from the bad lifters to the AFM thing whacking out whenever you modify anything. No thanks. Chevy should have just put in the LS3 in automatics too. Just like the vettes. problem solved!
