heres an option if theres no ABL

http://www.e-lite.com/
EL lighting comes as a rope or film. I think the film would be good because you can cut it any shape you want. Theres different colors depending on where you buy from. I wonder if GM is using this as the ABL? I made my nephews bed frame and incorporated the EL rope lighting on it. The lighting is really bright and even. A little too bright though. Would have to install a dimmer switch. This is what I might do if theres no ABL. There should be wiring for power there already if the ABL isnt installed, so that would help. You would probably need an inverter though.

Heres a link of a vid where they used it on the roof of the taxi cab. Looks pretty good.

I've seen the rope lighting used in show cars and although I like it, I probably wouldn't use it in my Camaro simply for the fact that it's not factory. I guess if I can't have it from the factory, it ain't worth it to me to have it at all.

But again, I do like the ropes. I think it looks cool, but just not for me.

And before you get lambasted too much by others, try editing your thread title to ABL instead of the other way around.

Sort of like a flexible fluorescent tube, and unlike light pipes, no heat producing LED light source needed. Pretty cool, might be a viable option to ABL....IF NEEDED.

This is a really good idea. I use EL wiring in my computer but I never thought about using it in a car.

I always wondered how they did that. I watch that show (Cash Cab) all the time.

Cool idea...but not for me. If they don't have the ABL factory installed, I don't want it.
