Cars are judged on 5 main points (usually), Interior, Exterior, Tires/Wheels, Engine bay, and Paint. Make sure all of these are as clean and shiny as humanly possible. It also looks as if you should be in the "modified" class. If you are not in the right class, some judges will take points off. Good luck!

Quit being a pu$$y

Do a big smokey burn out as soon as you get there, that really impresses the judges.

Be around to answer judges questions, but do not voluneer information. Let them know you're there if they have questions, but leave them alone to judge.
Clean everything as much as possible...paint, engine compartment, interior, trunk, undercarraige, wheels. Empty all visible contents from your car. Any documentation with your car will help, ie window sticker, mod list, dyno sheet, ect. Some shows award extra points for having a 1st aid kit and/or fire extinguisher in the car. Have fun and don't take it too seriously. |

And if all else fails, hope the judges are stupid
I took home first place in the European class at my first car show Yep, I thought it was kinda funny walking up to get my trophy wearing my Camaro shirt. I told the guy, "apparently only a Camaro can beat out every other car in their own class." . .

Clean, clean and clean some more...also you will find depending on the show(each are different) they may have several different classes you could enter. If so pic the one you would have the best chance in, or what others you would be competing with. A display board with information about the car is extremely helpful...lessens the answering of the same questions over and over. Get there early, where you are parked at the show will increase the looks your car gets, near the center of the area I find is best. Be prepared to talk to alot of people...these cars generate alot of interest, most people just see them going down the road and really like to get a closer look. Most important...have fun and take lots of pics!!!

I have one of those car show displays coming from carshowdisplay.com, I have my dyno sheet laminated to go in it as well as a nice list of mods and info on the car done with Gimp (paint shop style program). So we are definatley ready there. I am worried that I dont have PERFECT paint and two of my wheels have little scuffs on the edges, but im going to have fun anyway!
Here is my display sheet that will be next to the dyno sheet. It looks alot better printed out on photo paper, might add more info about the car to it as well. |
