opinions from owners or previous owners of a classic car and now a new camaro

First, I appreciate all opinions.... but this question is really geared to the guys who have owned classic cars or still do and now own a new camaro, or now own both...

What is your opinion on taking your car to a cruise in? not a car show where its judged. Im talking a local cruise in with classic cars, a dj maybe... just a bunch of local guys getting there cars together each week.

I would take my 55 to 2 or 3 each week work permitting.

do you take your new camaro to cruise ins? do the guys with the older cars get upset? should they be if they do? I appreciated all cars at the cruises.... I can see a show being unfair, but a cruise is just a gathering to bs and enjoy company of other people who love cars.

I have somewhat mixed feelings about taking mine to a cruise in. I dont know why, just feels odd or something. Just trying to gauge some other opinions of those who have or have had a classic and understand this question'

I dont want to be disrepectful to the guys in the classics. I didnt mind when someone brought a newer car to a cruise.... but seemed out of place in a way. different now that I sold my classic and now have the camaro.... still love the cars of yesterday just as much...

This is a non-issue ... When they are all real car guys it doesn't really matter. I try to go to one every week and there is always a good mix of all kinds of people with all kinds of cars. True car folks always get along just fine no matter what is driven.

Yesterday is so much better in a new Camaro.

To me its a muscle car thing, not when the car was built. And the lookers appreciate the new and the old iron.

It's a cruise in. Can your Camaro cruise? Doesn't matter how new/old your car is.

It's as easy as that. Just do it.

i agree with slingshot. if they are car guys, they will want to see and talk about a new muscle car. at any gathering there will be the guy who has to make a comment or if its not his its not cool. overlook that and talk to the other 99 percent that are real car guys.
at the track a couple of weeks ago, a guy in an FR500 had brake fade because of his stock fluid. i spent my lunch, my fluid and my power bleeder getting him ready for the next session. why, im a car guy and if your out there being a car guy too, then we are brothers. i know corny but thats the way i feal.
i bet they receive you with open arms. im taking my 2011 and my 1962 chevys when i go up to our little weekly summer cruise in. me and the dog in the 62 and the old lady in the 2011.

This basically is what I was hoping to see.
a car guy is a car guy. always going to be the one or two jerks, but I have dealt with them even with my 55. its not original, its not red. ect ect
just hoping I fit in so to speak.
love cars, all cars.
thanks guys

I know what you mean, I always took my 70 to the cruise ins! I do plan on taking my camaro up there now, I love going to the cruise's! I feel its cool to bring a new muscle car though, specially if its modded and sounds good. The one thing about those cruise in's...everyone takes notice of the cars that sound good. So my Long tubes are going on next week to go with my 1 chambers So my new camaro will have that old school feel! I say take it there with pride!

I was raised around cars, both my dad and bro have classics. Currently my dad has a '32 3 window coupe and my bro has a '69 camaro z28. I use to have 2 '69 mustangs (fast back and vert) Cruise ins and car shows was a natural part of growing up for me. The true die hard car nuts like all cars, new or old. You do have your few that don't like newer cars but I say go for it. I have found that the more "tricked" out your car is, the less they like it. If you take a new camaro and make some mods but don't go crazy with it, they will enjoy it. I would love to take mine to a few cruise in's when I get her in shape like I want too. I still have a ton of plans for her.

yes a car guy is a car guy, now you may get those you snub you because you now own a newer car.

now if its a classic cruise in & It states that, then dont take your new camaro.

just like dont take a new camaro to a corvette cruise in. lol

as for shows, hell with them again unless its a classic show, go I have won against the new camaro with my husbands 71 camaro. its not that its nicer, its just the classics are still in the heart of most of the guys that go to the shows..

& what are these Judged shows you guys keep talking about???? the ones around here, are normally just owners choice or spectators choice. never judged on points.

not just a classic cruise. although 99% of the cars are classics. but thats anywere really.
corvette guys HATE us camaro guys. prob because our cars are just as fast, in my opinion better looking, and $25,000 less

As for shows, I am anti show to be honest. all they do is point out whats wrong with the cars. I prefer to say hey, thats a nice car. looks good. drive it, enjoy it. Im not the trailer queen kinda guy.

We have a few judged shows locally vs just cruise ins where you just go, have a pop, a burger and chill.....

I've taken my 2010 Camaro to 3 car cruises so far this year. At the first cruise, there were 3 new Camaros and at the one last Saturday, there were at least 7. True car guys appreciate all muscle cars. That's the reason they go to the cruise.
