Thoughts on dropping a 3 inch in/out muffler into the stock exhaust?

Is this far enough back that it won't slow the exhaust flow speed? Would it drop the tone? Megaphones usually drop pitch, so I'm guessing this would drop the pitch, with the increased volume. But I have not been able to find a recording of a 3 inch exhaust on a V6, much less just the mufflers.

Not quite understanding what you are saying.. but do you mean installing a 3" muffler onto the existing stock mufflers?

Saw a set of mufflers and tips from a 3 inch exhaust system for the V8 for sale. The original owner cut them off and put in flowmasters. So the mufflers are 3 inch inlet instead of the more common 2.5 or 2.25. It got me to wondering what this size muffler would do in a stock V6 exhaust.
I couldn't find any videos, so I thought I would toss out the question to the C5 family.
