Difference between AudioControl EQX Equalizer w/ Crossover vs JBL MS-8

I am looking at the JBL MS-8 and the AudioControl EQX? Big difference in price - is the MS-8 worth the extra money?

Thanks,
Ed

MS-8 will allow you to set up a mic and "tune" your car stereo system. With the audiocontrol version you have to tune it yourself.

I found this if you're looking for an MS-8. http://www.diymobileaudio.com/forum/...bl-ms-8-a.html

I just purchased a ms-8 and it will be installed this week. I have heard a great deal of good comments about the unit, but I have also heard some bad. Hopefully, I will be satisfied with the purchase.

I installed a MS-8 last November. The MS-8 really brings the BA system to life. The only other mod I have is a JL 10" Subwoofer installed in the trunk, other than that everything else is stock in the car.

I am fairly pleased with the MS-8. The key with the MS-8 just like with any other audio processor is to calibrate the sound. This is a very complicated method and takes weeks to get right. Once you go through the automated setup (the earphone setup), I would highly recommend to start tweaking the settings to your liking. The settings to tweak are the audio control settings (sub level, fader, center volume, balance etc.) and the EQ (32 band EQ). A few tips from my experience:

1. Always use original CD's to calibrate (MP3's are too compressed and don't sound that great)
2. Use a wide variety of music (from Jazz to Dance) so that you can cover most of the sound frequencies.
3. You will never get every single piece of music sounding perfect because of the way they are recorded, so make sure your fav genre/artists sound perfect to your ears, and tweak your settings based on that
4. There is only so much your ears can take in one setting, so please have a TON OF PATIENCE.

6 Months in and I still have to occasionally tweak the EQ settings once in a while.

Will be more than happy to help anyone that has questions. Good luck!
